Yeah. Built-in media player and TV OS, di ko talaga pinapansin yan. When I was buying my 4K TV, the salesman wanted to test the built-in media player, and gusto rin i-demo sakin yun GUI ng OS, sabi ko wag na saying oras hahaha! Iba iba ang hanap natin sa TV, I guess.
sakin the time i bought my 55"
casting from phone lang and PQ ang test plus upscaling since mostly 720p yun mga saved videos ko.
pleasant surprise lang ang OK na GUI (WebOS) nun magtesting ako ng netflix and youtube almost a year after hehehe

Yung  built in media player ng Sony TV ko mas maganda pq compared to my Minix player.  Quick OT question lang, if I use my TV's media player and output the sound to an HT through a receiver, pwde ba madecode mga DTS master audio na movie file?

in most cases, it will decode dts and dd; but in stereo mode only

agree. I rarely use the built-in media player of my TVs. for the price to size ratio, I think it's somehow a good deal, kahit na basic tv na lang siguro yan, without using the other features. use an android tv box na lang siguro.

we encounter to play 1 specific downloaded 4K HDR file in my friend's Sony Android x70D, we've seen pixelation and artifacts/ghostings.  it is my file and it was also played with my Sony x80D and LG UH8500.  it doesn't manifest the said glitches on my TVs.  we both own Nvidia Shield and it was played on each of our own sets.

i guess the TV's processor/panel tech still do act its part despite the media player decodes/pass-through the video.  should the HDMI cable plays part too?  I do believe it does.

testing, testing, testing is still key to finding out if you'd be happy with it before the purchase.  nakaka-hinayang yung pera ng buyer ng 65" Hitachi   :(

Sony Android TV ba sir?  I'm not sure for those non-Android Sony Smart TV

Sony Android TV can decode  DTS HD MA 8ch -- but since we still have HDMI ARC (or SPDIF) interfaces, it will be donwmixed to DTS-core 6ch

wait natin 2019/2020 for TV's implemented with HDMI v2.1 -- pero mahal na siguro ito if they'll put it on their top-of-the-line models

i guess the tv did not meet the expectation/s of the owner.
kanya kanya expectations lang siguro.  sakin kasi at that price, even @ 1080p OK nako eh :)

Exactly this. 35k for a 65" 4k TV is definitely cheap if it has what you're looking. In my case though wala ung hinahanap kong upscaling, maayos at responsive na OS and UI, good quality build and after sales customer support.

Update dun sa return/refund process. 3 days after madeliver ung TV and ireport ko sa Abenson ung refund request ko, inapprove na nila earlier today. I was given 3 choices:
1) Full refund including shipping fee.
2) Exchange for a different appliance(not just TV) of the same price.
3) Upgrade to a different TV and deduct nlang ung 35k.
I went with the third option. I'm getting the 65" Samsung Q6FN. Dagdagan ko nlang ung kukulangin dun sa difference nung price nung TV minus the 35k na presyo ng Hitachi. The new TV is for delivery din tapos ung magdedeliver sila ndn ppickup netong Hitachi.

Overall, I am happy with Abenson's after sales support.

UK6300 if you're sensitive to judder and want wide viewing angles, but are not sensitive to uniformity, contrast and color resolution (RGBW panel).

NU7100 if you're sensitive to contrast, uniformity, and aliasing, but don't mind judder and narrower viewing angles.

in my case I do not rely too much on expert reviews ... I just check and audition the units I'm planning to buy ... my take on expert reviews is that their baseline comparisons are the high-end models, and if you follow their recommendations, you'll have to shell out a lot of cash and should buy an OLED tv or the likes, and sometimes I think they have bias probably due to sponsorship ... last year, I bought the top of the line non-OLED LG tv because of the good picture quality compared to the other models when I was selecting the tv to purchase ... to my surprise, the expert reviews were mostly negative on that model and they were not recommending it ... I'm very satisfied with the purchase though, and more than a year after, I'm still amazed on how good the quality is, especially with 4k contents

Thank you. I'm only for budget 65 lang naman. Alot of them. Recommend TCL. Pero di ako nagandahan. I guess ill follow my instinct with Samsung entry. Wait lang for best price timing. 2nd that looks good to me is Sony. Thank you.

I personally prefer the NU7100 as I like its uniformity and contrast ratio and don't display 24 Hz (because I perform motion interpolation).

The UK6300 has its advantages (wide viewing angles and high power efficiency). That is why these TVs are often used as signs.

Bottomline, if you enjoy your purchase  sulit na yun, no matter what the review is.

Recently purchased a sony 55x7007f, can't find any review, but was very satisfied with my purchase. Coming from a plasma TV and a first time UHD buyer, the model fits my budget and (a little big) size.
Watched a 1080p file of BladeRunner 2049 and was blown away by the image quality, motion was very good, color and blacks was excellent. Did some adjustments while watching and found the perfect setting for my liking.

Will just go highend when I can afford it. But now, very satisfied

almost the same case for me, I replaced a plasma TV with a 55-inch Lg SJ85 last year ... the SJ85 is better in all aspects than the full HD plasma tv that it replaced ... to my surprise, the expert reviews are complaining about the black levels and contrast of the SJ85, I'm just wondering how they came up with their conclusion ... no telemetry is better than your own two eyes when deciding what tv picture quality is best for you ... at the end of the day, the best tv is the one in which you own the remote control :)

I dont trust TCL, been there.. I just bought it because its cheap and huge (55") PQ is just okay since its for my kids' shows anyway, they wont complain as long as cartoons ang palabas.

Panel got busted after 1 year, to think very slightly used. We havent even tried doing a movie marathon on that TCL, panay 30 minute series kids shows (my little pony, ben10, steven universe) and Disney movies on weekends.

My vote goes to LG 65sk8500 for its Local Dimming and Dolby Vision support.
Samsung 65q6f is also very good and is close second.
Next is Sony 65x8500e

Also consider LG, they could compete toe-to-toe with Sony TVs (from personal experience) and even better with some of Samsung's models. I find LG's WebOS very good, could read 50GB & up HEVC 4k HDR files seamlessly, while our Samsung needed to have the Minix ATB for seamless playback (although Im not complaining since Minix has a lot more uses other than playback)

Got an LG b6p from fb marketplace. Got a good price for it considering LG replaced it with a new panel, motherboard and magic remote. And on top of that, it is still under warranty.

Whichever fits your budget... though these models are almost the same in terms of price.

i only have the sony x7007f, but auditioned samsung 7100, 7300 and the LG6300.
Chose sony because of PQ, motion, and inputs
my only gripe about the Sony is that it doesn't have iflix.
it has Netflix and prime video as well as youtube.
