Slight correction here.  Some tv's actually can't upscale to 4k but merely just stretches the video to fit the panel and not have just "1/4 lang ng screen yung ma-ooccupy".  This is when the tv goes to full screen mode and not leave out black borders on the side or at the bottom.   This is similar to 1080p panels stretching out a 480p signal.

isn't this the case with the skyworth g6, after the update?

Skyworth 50G2 at just under ₱25k. Comes with HDR and Android TV. PQ looked good at the store.

Made in the same factory that Skyworth bought from Toshiba.

My bad. My dad has the P6. I'd stay away from Sony. Medyo pangalan nalang binabayaran mo. Ok ang LG, Samsung ang TCL. LG has the best OS (WebOS) along with the nice remote/pointer while sulit naman ang TCL mura na ok pa quality. Samsung talaga best PQ kaso bad experience lang ang lifespan niya. I don't know lang sa mga new models nila kung naayos na nila.

You'll never go wrong with Sony, LG, Samsung... yung iba mura pero mapapamura ka afterwards lol. Sony still best in PQ for me, especially their high-end offerings, its pricey though so its really not for everyone. LG is bang for the buck... Samsung is well, being samsung, hehe, but from some thread i read here, aftersales services even of their high-end unit is really crappy, i think more than a month na yung TV na yun sa thread dito and still di pa nila naaayos.

It's a better interface but far less apps.  There is also the scary part where the TV's OS and apps won't be supported by the manufacturer 18 months after release.

Same is true for Tizen.

The perfect mix for me would be Android TV + OLED. Take a wild guess which company does this.

Sony is expensive, true. But it's still a great TV.

Is it too expensive? I think that's relative. It's certainly too expensive for me. Hahaha

Same here. I'd buy an expensive branded TV when/if they give at least 4 years warranty. 2 years warranty don't cut it anymore for me after my Samsung experience.

^I beg to disagree that Sony TVs are way overpriced. Otherwise I will not be able to buy a 75x9000e. Just be patient and wait for price drops. Got my Sony 2 years ago lower than the Samsung and LG 75" counter parts...

It's just way overpriced when other brands like Samsung and LG are cheaper, looks better in PQ as well as design-wise. If you're a Sony guy, go ahead. It just isn't wise, that's all lalo na kung ipangreregalo lang. Sony's been around but aside from PS4, what other products ba mabenta sa kanila? Don't get me wrong it's not trash whatsoever. But when you think of TVs nowadays madalas the 2 I mentioned and TCL is on the rise. When I visited the US a few months ago, marami nang bumibili nun which is why I recommended it. Everytime I see Sony tvs on display I just don't see why I would spend extra money when Samsung and LG clearly look more superior. Hence "you're only paying for the name". Just my 2 cents.

someone would have to validate other specs besides the picture quality  ... nowadays, the smart feature part of the TV is also an important feature for TVs because of online contents, media playing capabilities, and other related features ... cheaper models (even with the top brands) would normally have lower end processors, memory, and relevant components, hence some are not capable of playing HD or 4k video smoothly ... one difference of Sony over LG and Samsung is that Sony uses Android - there are advantages on using the Android platform, usually built-in na yung Chromecast and pwede ka load ng apps like NBA League Pass
Marantz NR1200, MartinLogan Motion 20 digital audio setup, and Sony A80J

Happened to me with Samsung. Late 2018 they just decided not to support NBA League Pass app. This required me to purchase a Roku just to get NBA League Pass

Really? Stay away from Sony? Have you owned one recently? TCL over Sony? Okay ang quality over Sony?

You must have owned these brands to be able to tell us they’re better than Sony. Or nakita mo lang sa showroom or nabasa mo sa internet?

WebOS better than Android TV? Are you kidding? I have an LG and the OS sucks. Very few apps. Remote control is a battery monster. It won’t last.

Expensive is relative. You get what you pay for.

when it comes to led tv from mid range(UHD Premium) to high end range(QLED) nobody beats samsung especially if you're a gamer be it console or pc their tvs has VRR with freesync those 2 features are gamer friendly. bought a QLED Q8CN(55 inch.) for console and for PC application only and i'm so satisfied about the performance.

Yes I owned all (except for the TCL which my dad owns). Maybe it depends on what you use. You're right about the battery of the LG, madalas ak magpapalit but malaking tulong yung parang mouse pointer niya. Samsung would be #1 for me kung di lang sirain. Again, it's just my personal opinion based on experience. I only use Youtube & I have a Chromecast. I don't use other apps on my tv and I don't use my tv nor my gaming console for surfing the internet. If it's tv, yes, I'll choose TCL after learning about it and experiencing it. I used to think it was another Devant etc. If you like Sony, good for you. I just think it's over priced. But if you're a geek and into the nitty gritty specs and notice every single detail which would justify the price, go ahead. We all have options. All I'm saying is for tv's I'd go for LG, Samsung and TCL. Sony would be my 4th or maybe if there was a sale. I apologize for saying to "stay away" from Sony, medyo exagerrated. Ako kasi I haven't considered it for awhile because of their pricing when the other brands are even more popular now with either equal or even better performance but for way less.

I own currently the Sony 55X900E for my bedroom, LG 65SJ8500 for my living room, For samsung my only experience was that it was my very first TV buy in 2010 or was it 2011? - 40D5000. Still works by the way, but gave it away last year. So the samsung tv was alive for 7-8 years and might still be alive now.

When i bought both sony and lg last year, i was decided not to buy an OLED set. So i bought Sony because of the excellent picture quality. Outperforms my LG tv by a long shot. What I like about LG is that the magic remote / cursor makes it convenient for me to browse youtube and typing in stuff in the search bar. For Sony, the Android TV os is ok, hate the remote though. The OS is fine, works well but typing is a pain with the remote.

I bought the Sony tv for my bedroom because it was the best picture quality my budget could buy that was not OLED. Samsung was close with the QLED but I felt was overpriced for me.  55 inch was also the maximum size i can put in my bedroom.

So my point is, Both OS are fine. Almost one year for me of using both. If i could marry Sony's picture quality with the remote of LG then that would be great.

Reliability wise, all my tv's are plugged into AVR's. Never had a tv die on me prematurely, fingers crossed. At my parent's house, lightning struck a nearby pole and fried the LG tv since the electricity came through the cable wire. fried the Skycable Digibox but the LG was damaged and LG just replaced an IC thing for free since it was under warranty. Parents are happy with LG's quick and painless servicing.

Point is, and this post is OT here. Buy the best deal you can have for your money. If the best deal for you is TCL then kudos. But I wouldn't knock Sony for the "premium" that one is paying for since that's how i feel about the QLED series of Samsung. Better value for me is my Sony set with FALD and excellent picture quality.

I only mainly use both tvs for Netflix and Youtube on a 50mbps connection. 4k HDR really pops and picture quality of the SONY tv stands out. So it was a good deal for me to buy Sony. Good deal also with LG for the 65 tv i bought for the SJ series.

So go buy what is the best deal for you. RTINGS and calibration helps. Before buying just take your time on a narrowed set list of tv's you'd like to buy and decide from there.

^^ I agree.  It's best to keep an open mind these days, particularly since there are so many choices out there.  There are good (and bad) deals to be found all across the wide spectrum of tv prices, from cheap to expensive.

I believe the point of this thread was to find the better deals out there and help a potential buyer make the best choice for his budget.  :)

I agree with Sir Louie. I think we both purchased  our sony's last year  He got the 75 and I bought the 65 900E  .. As this thread is about good deals , you just need to time the purchase . I believe in a span of 2 or 3 days the deal was gone . I was also able to buy a sony Oled for less than the LG equivalent again it was the timing .

Two months tops on the LG remote. I still prefer WebOS because of ease of use bro. Though limited apps. :)

Hmmm when i went tv hunting 2 years ago, i was really leaning towards Sony over LG because it looked better in my eyes but eventually getting an LG that had a better deal(price) with same specs, android nga lang si Sony, ..my LGUH6500 is on its 3rd year is still rockin hehe kakadiscover ko lang din ng 4K files and the colors are really popping out!! With picture depth ...i am really satisfied with my  LG ..malakas nga sa battery yung magic remote kaya mumurahing lang ginagamit ko (Kinggiver) 20pesos apat na ..as for the apps ..Netflix ,Youtube lang gamit naman na ok lang sakin ..pinagaaralan ko pa yung PLEX hehehe just my 2 mamera

Webrowser din pala for free NBA Streaming via Reddit hehe sample pic ..
