My favorite, too. It's actually THE VERY FIRST SONG I ever downloaded from Kazaa!  :D

We're gonna turn it on... we're gonna bring you the power...

The Adventures... of LETTERMAN!

Punc-punc-punc-punc-tuation... they are the little marks that give the influence... to make the sentence make more sense... The period is just a little dot - but it occupies a most important spot!

You got soup? We got soup. What kind of soup? All kinds of soup!

Easy Reader, that's my name I say... uh uh uh...

=====

Oh no... this post has just made me realize that I was programmed to be a couch potato even from early childhood!   :o

 ;D

LOL... see? the signs were there at an early age. (i guess this means you were a "couch spud"???   ::) :P ;D)

ha ha ha. don't ya just love those "horned cow-like aliens"? for the longest time i thought kapatid ni animal yung kumakanta ... "mahna mahna... toot toot too-too-too"!

hee hee... gary gnu isn't from sesame street ... he's from another well-loved and well-remembered show: THE GREAT SPACE COASTER. ;D

no gnews is good gnews like gary gnu's

and the words "ala peanut butter sandwiches"... was actually the amazing mumford's and not the count's. (but i think there were a few times when the count also said these words.) can't seem to find a pic of mumford tho... i don't think he appears that much anymore.  ;D

hahahaha kinda mix them all up :)....how about the martians outside the window :)...mimicing the sound of the fone lol.....the tiny family atop a flower pot...was it ernie's plant? ::)

my favorite songs: seven alligators and 12 lady bugs on a picnic. hope i got the numbers right. anyone knows if they are available on cd?

thanks.

"The Alligator King" really takes me back.  So does "Everybody sleeps."  Another song that is unusually etched in my mind is the capital I song.  You know:  " We all live in a capital I...." Now my daughter is the same age that I first started watching Sesame Street.  Kind of makes me feel old.

Questions:

1.)  Does anyone know when Telly, Elmo, and Prarie Dawn were first introduced?  They were not around when I was still watching the show.

2.)  When did Mr. Hooper die?

I also followed the Batibot, Atbp series.  The most memorable character for me is not Pong Pagong or Kiko Matsing but Kuya Bodji!

Couch spud, that was me.  Now a fully rooted couch potato.

Questions:

1.)  Does anyone know when Telly, Elmo, and Prarie Dawn were first introduced?  They were not around when I was still watching the show.

i think these guys (i.e. elmo's world) were SS's answer vs. the new toddler show formats like blue's clues & teletubbies

medyo natatalo na kasi sila sa ratings game eh.  :P

2.)  When did Mr. Hooper die?

try this:
http://www.rpi.edu/~jerzaw/bert/hooper.htm

seriously, eto ang details:

(Big Bird gives everyone pictures that he drew of them.)

Big Bird: And last but not least, ta-da!

(Shows picture of Mr. Hooper.)

Big Bird: Well, I can't wait till he sees it!

(silence)

Big Bird: Say, where is he? I wanna give it to him. I know! He's in the store.

Bob: Uh, Big Bird. He's ... he's not in there.

Big Bird: Oh. Then where is he?

Maria: Big Bird, uh, don't you remember we told you? Mr. Hooper died. He ... he's dead.

Big Bird: Oh yeah. I remember. Well, I'll give it to him when he comes back.

Susan: Big Bird, Mr Hooper's not coming back.

Big Bird: Why not?

Susan: Big Bird, when ... when people die, they don't *come* back.

Big Bird: Ever?

Susan: No, never.

Big Bird: Well, why not?

Luis: Well, Bird Bird, they're dead. They ... they can't come back.

Big Bird: Well, he's *gonna* come back. Why, who's gonna take care of the store? And who's gonna make my birdseed milkshakes and ... and tell me stories?

David: Big Bird, I'm gonna take care of the store. Mr. Hooper, he left it to me. And I'll make you your milkshakes and ... and we'll all tell you stories, and we'll make sure you're okay.

Susan: We'll look after you.

Big Bird: Hmmm.

(silence)

Big Bird: Well, it won't be the same.

Bob: You're right, Bird Bird. It's ... it's ... it'll never be the same without him.

Big Bird: Mmm.

Bob (crying): But you know something? We can all be very happy that we had a chance to be with him and ... and to know him. And to love him a lot when he was here.

Big Bird: Yeah.

Olivia: And Bird Bird, we'll still have our *memories* of him.

Big Bird: Well, yeah ... yeah ... our memories. Right. Why, memories, that's how I drew this picture. From memory. And we can remember him and remember him and remember him, as much as we want to! But I don't like it. It makes me sad.

David: We all feel sad, Big Bird.

Big Bird: He's *never* coming back?

David: Never.

Olivia: No.

Big Bird: Well, I don't understand! You know, everything was just fine! I mean, why does it have to be this way? Give me one good reason!

Gordon: Big Bird, it has to be this way ... *because*.

Big Bird: Just because?

Gordon: Just because.

Big Bird: Oh.

(Looks at Mr. Hooper's picture.)

Big Bird: You know, I'm gonna miss you, Mr. Looper.

Maria (crying): That's *Hooper,* Big Bird, *Hooper.*

Big Bird: You're right.

(Everyone gathers around Big Bird for a hug.)

may questions din po ako:

1. si big bird ba ay male o female?

2. when kinasal si maria & luis?

3. si miss piggy ba ay galing sa SS
o created sya for the muppet show?

by the way, i was so happy when REM
made a guest appearance on the SS
and modified their song "shiny happy people"
just for the kids.  ;D

1. si big bird ba ay male o female?

Big Bird is a male. Female counterpart niya si Big Pussy from The Sopranos.

Sorry, someone had to say it. ;D

Big Bird was actually conceived as a typical inquisitive 6 year old with no specific gender. But when people began bringing the issue up, they shifted it and let characters refer to Big Bird as a "he."

Quote
2. when kinasal si maria & luis?

Initially, there was the David-Maria love angle. Luis eventually became the 3rd party, and he won out, marrying Maria in 1988 or 89. The actor who played David died in 1990.

Quote
3. si miss piggy ba ay galing sa SS o created sya for the muppet show?

She was originally created as a minor character for The Muppet Show, but eventually moved on to second lead, quickly surpassing Fozzie Bear in popularity.

"A, mansanas... B, saging" did they really translate it this way?

My favorite song is Ernie's "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon", it's so cute and so thoughtful at the same time.

Is this one available locally? The reviews aren't too good, though, since the songs featured are just excerpts daw, not complete.

The Karaoke one is available locally on DVD. Php 250 or 350 lang yata. But these are all-new versions of the songs, not the originals, with Elmo doing much of the singing.  >:(

Y'know, that may be one of the greatest mysteries of SS ...  ;D

Anyone here remember the episodes where the Sesame people went off to Mexico? The only part I can recall is when they were leaving.

We're going home, we're going home
We would love to stay but we can't delay
Coz we're going home ...
Je ne regrette rien.

Sesame Street really influenced pinoy pop culture.  Here are some examples:

1. Jollibee commercial in the early 90's used "I don't want to live on the moon" as a music peg.
2. "Cheezy Chiz Curls, you're the one" jingle is a take on "Rubber Ducky, you're the one."
3. Batibot is an obvious Sesame Street clone...also "Sesame" with Pong Pagong and Kiko Matsing.

There may be more, but these are the ones i recall.

I also remember "What's it like to be in school? Will there be a teacher who..."  And this song that goes "Beet, beet, sugar beet, beet, sugar beet, sugar beet, beeeeeeet."  Also "We all live in a capital I. In the middle of the desert, in the center of the sky."  Also, "A lower case N.  Standing on a hill.  The wind is very still, for the lower case N.  Then one day a rocket ship came falling from the sky.  It landed on the hill and it opened up a door. Then something started coming outside.  A lower case N! (He's not lonely anymore) Standing on a Hill (There are two of them for sure).   The wind is very still, for the lower case N!"

Bow!

i remember one character from sesame st. : the one who paints the number 8 sa mga sandwiches.  he uses jams and other spreads as paint.  remember that guy?

also:  the little bugs at ernie's windowsill:

"we are going to the zoo!"
then they carry their little car made out of matchbox to the zoo kasi nasira.

and they thought big bird had an imaginary friend. si snuffle-apagus(did i spell it right?) pala yun.

and wanda the witch for the letter "W"?

and grover running this way and that while shouting: "nearrrr!"......run run run "farrrrrrr!!!!!"

and big bird's big dog.
I've been reckless, but I'm not a rebel without a cause.  A Jolie
