Here's my favorite Batibot song:

Alagang-alaga namin si Puti
Bakang mataba, bakang maputi

Bigyan mo ng damo
Nguya, nguya, nguya
Nguya, nguya, nguya
Bakang mataba

Taka-taka-tok
Taka-taka-tok...

Well "Batibot" became more popular when it became a street tagalog term of masturbation.

Pag gising sa umaga punta sa kubeta at... doon nagbatibot... doon nagbatibot

With Sesame Street... The popular misterpreted "Gay" couples.. Ernie and Bert

i remember the g grover g george jingle from sesame street and i really loved that tune dahil grover is my all time favorite muppet.  also remember the everybody sleeps tune, anyone else remember that?

pero the thing i want to find out is this.  it's also from sesame street and i remember feeling melancholic and sad even then in my youth when i always saw this clip.  it's a sort of collage of leaves in the rain and it was accompanied by this sad, haunting guitar music.  what is the title of that piece of music?  kasi i get the impression that it was a classical piece, di ko nga lang alam kung sino.  i've been trying to find out ever since but i have had no luck.  can someone help?

Another favorite Batibot song of mine:

Ako ay kapitbahay; kapitbahay n'yo
Laging handang tumulong sa inyo
Kilala n'yo ako; kilala n'yo ako
Ako'y isa sa kapitbahay; kapitbahay ninyo

Ako ay kapitbahay; laging handang
Laging handang tumulong sa inyo
Kilala n'yo ako; kilala n'yo ako
Ako'y isa sa kapitbahay; kapitbahay ninyo

Im also a sesame street kid....

I still remember Berts immortal question "why did the pigeon cross the street".

The episode I love most is  when kermit was buying a sweat shirt with the words " kermit the frog" written on it. The seller would always bring out a shirt with the "frog" jumbled. (gorf, grof etc). And then after kermit refuses to take it a true owner would come in and claim the item.

Also they have this puppet in a suit who buys equipment but doesnt pronounce  the name. He would always give the sound of the item. I think kermit is the seller.

buying puppet : give me a (imitates the sound of a hammer)

kermit   brings out a saw

buying puppet : no no no, you gave a  (imitates the sound of a saw), but im buying a (imitates the sound of a hammer)

 ;D

ah, memories.

here's an update...

Kuya Bodjie (or however its spelled)  - recently appeared in a McDo TV Ad.  Dial 8-MCDO.
Bud Luckey - One of Sesame Streets original animators is the creator of "Boundin'", the animated short that appears before the "The Incredibles" main feature.  He animated "Lady Bug Picnic" and several other classic Sesame Street clips.  Watch the Incredibles features disc for more info.

yun lang muna.

The Alligator King

One two three four five six seven!
Said the Alligator King to his seven sons,
"I'm feelin' mighty down.
Whichever of you can cheer me up
Will get to wear my crown."

His first son brought seven oyster pearls
From the bottom of the China Sea.

The second gave him seven statues of girls
With clocks where their stomachs should be.

The third son gave him seven rubies
From the sheikdom Down There Beneath.
The King thought the rubies were cherries,
And he broke off seven of his teeth.

The fourth son tried to cheer him up
With seven lemon drops.
The King said, "I'm sorry son,
Since that ruby episode, I just haven't got the chops."

The fifth son brought the King perfume
In seven fancy silver jars;
The King took a whiff, and he broke out in spots
'Cause it smelled like cheap cigars.

The sixth son gave him seven diamond rings
To wear upon his toes.
The King snagged his foot on the royal red rug
And crumpled up his nose.

The seventh son of the Alligator King
Was a thoughtful little whelp.
He said, "Daddy, appears to me
That you could use a little help."

Said the Alligator King to his seventh son,
"My son, you win the crown.
You didn't bring me diamonds or rubies, but
You helped me up when I was down.
Take the crown; it's yours, my son.
I hope you don't mind the dents.
I got it on sale at a discount store-
Cost me all of seven cents!"
Seven!
Lord, help me prove that winning the lottery won't spoil me !!

I remember when I was 8 years old, I loved to watch Batibot especially yung portion na kwento ni Kuya Bodjie. I told to myself then that I don't want to grow old kasi, di ko na mapapanood ang Batibot.  :D ;D
Anyways, here's one of the songs that I remember..

"Telepono, telepono kay daling gamitin
Telepono, telepono mag-usap sa telepono"
Still world peace

Had my share of Sesame Street vintage segments last night courtesy of YouTube. I've watched Bob's Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood?, the famous Pinball Count and the Rubber Duckie song by Ernie while in a bathtub among others! I'm actually looking for the segment wherein Maria's thirsty and is looking for an "agua" on a dessert. Does anyone remember that?   ;D

I get this feeling that today children will likely watch cartoon channels on cable rather than these shows. And what we used to watch when we were kids are now marketed to adults.

I've read the amazon user reviews on SESAME STREET OLD SCHOOL DVD before I posted the actual DVD Cover and found out that children in the U.S. pretty much don't like the new SESAME STREET now as well.

EWW! No wonder that Elmo always gave me the creeps.

Quote
VOICE OF ELMO DENIES SEX W/ UNDERAGE BOY
Takes Leave of Absence from Sesame Street

Kevin Clash -- the man known as the voice of Elmo -- has taken a leave of absence from Sesame Street in the wake of allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy, TMZ has learned  ... allegations Clash adamantly denies.

We've learned ... Sesame Workshop lawyers recently met with a 23-year-old man who claims he and Clash began a sexual relationship 7 years ago ... when he was 16 and Clash was 45.

Clash has acknowledged to TMZ he had a relationship with the young man -- but insists it only took place AFTER the accuser was an adult.

Sesame Workshop honchos tell TMZ ... "In June of this year, Sesame Workshop received a communication from a young man who alleged that he had a relationship with Kevin Clash beginning when he was 16-years-old.  This was a personal relationship, unrelated to the workplace. We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action."

Sesame Workshop officials acknowledge to TMZ they met with the accuser twice and had a number of other communications with him.

Sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ ... after the accuser's initial meeting with Sesame Street, the accuser felt Sesame Workshop's lawyers were trying to muzzle him ... so he lawyered up with Andreozzi and Associates -- the firm that represented one of the victims in the Jerry Sandusky child rape case.

On August 15, 2012 ... Andreozzi fired off a letter to Sesame, accusing the company of trying to "discredit the victim in order to protect its employee and the image of one of its most valuable characters," adding, "This approach places a greater value on a puppet than the well being of a young man."

Sesame Workshop officials tell TMZ  ... they conducted a thorough investigation and determined the allegation of underage sex was unsubstantiated.  They say they never tried to silence the accuser -- rather they asked for evidence supporting his claim, but he never produced it.

Officials also tell us they're suspicious because the accuser has an email which TMZ obtained -- purportedly sent to him by Clash, acknowledging they had the affair when he was 16.  The officials say the accuser never mentioned such an email existed and they believe it's fraudulent.

But there were other emails between Clash and the accuser, and although they don't suggest there was underage sex, officials tell us they disciplined him for inappropriate use of company email.

Sesame Workshop honchos tell TMZ ... "Kevin insists that these allegations are false and defamatory and he has taken actions to protect his reputation.  We have granted him a leave of absence to do so."

It is unclear why Clash wanted a leave of absence, since he denies the allegations of underage sex.

As for Clash, the voice actor tells TMZ, "I had a relationship with [the accuser].  It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not."  Clash calls the accusations false and defamatory.

Finally Sesame Workshop officials tell TMZ the puppet is alive and well: "Elmo is bigger than any one person and will continue to be an integral part of Sesame Street to engage, educate and inspire children around the world."

^^Never liked Elmo; he was after my time, and I found him incredibly annoying.

Is Sesame Street even being aired here anymore?

Same here ..... Elmo wasn't part of the Sesame Street that I grew up with - never really liked him compared to the initial cast.

One SS moment that I can never forget - the episode where the adults informed Big Bird of Mr. Hooper's passing ..... heartbreaking episode; though looking back, it was handled very well.

I even remember the haunting piece of music played after the scene (a guitar solo, which to this day, I'm still searching for a copy) ...... a tribute of sorts for Mr. Hooper.
