I can't seem to make hdmi passthrough in Kodi player so i can't play videos in DTS using the native kodi player.

Are you in expert settings? On Kodi 17, it's under settings > system settings and the gear on the bottom left should be set to expert. Once done, you should be able to see more options in audio passthrough.

"Enable audio DSP Processing" should be off.

Also it might help what kind of receiver you're using.

Maselan po ba ang wifi connection ng box na ito.. i mean may mga classification pa ba ang mga wifi.. meron kasi ako TP-Link na router with wifi na 8 years old.. gamit ko siya sa laptop.. cellphones..  and a wired LAN from the TP-Link para sa desktop ko na pang download ng torrent.. puwede na kaya ito para sa Mi Box 3.. speed ko is 5mbps.. nag iisip po kasi ako kung MiBox 3 or the TX3 Pro..  any suggestion po? Salamat

There are various things to consider, depending on one's needs and budget. Consider this as a starting point: not all Android boxes are Android TV-supported devices. The Mi Box 3 is an Android TV-supported device. The TX3 Pro is only an Android box.

Yes, agreed. The device is Wifi AC-capable but has backward compatibility.

Technically similar hardware. But you have at least two things to consider with the China version before you can even fully use it:

1. The default OS language is in Chinese
2. There is no pre-installed Google Play out of the box

Dropped off my son at Ayala Mall The 30th.  Napadaan ako sa Globe, and nabulungan ako nang demonyo.  Picked up a Mi Box 3.  Decided to get it over the cheaper Shopee option, kasi puwede credit card, and I have immediate satisfaction.

Playing around with it now.  This is such a refined Android TV box.

*TIPS*
1. Activating USB debugging will deactivate the lone USB port at the back.  Not a good thing.
2. Sideloading apps not designed for the Mi Box will not allow you to put a shortcut on your home screen.  Medyo bad trip mag launch nang app by going into Settings>Apps.

Why not try using the SIDELOAD LAUNCHER?

It sits right smack on your home screen, it will collect all the shortcuts for the sideloaded apps in one convenient place without going to SETTINGS > APPS.

Brilliant.  That solves it.  While it's not up-front, it's like an app drawer for sideloaded apps.  Thanks.

I love that this has built in Bluetooth.  I've paired it with my Bluetooth mouse, and navigation is so much easier.  Will look for a good and compact BT keyboard and mouse.

I have the keyboard with touchpads, and air mouse remotes, but they have 2.4Ghz USB dongle, and that will take up the lone USB port.  Haven't tried USB hubs here.  Enough for tonight.

Congrats on the purchase! Try the voice search and built-in chromecast... it's a hoot!

Now you can test which USB hubs/rj45 works well with the Mi Box :)

Remember... to test you need to leave the mi box overnight suspended and resume sa morning, if the connection via wired ethernet still works, the hub/rj45 is compatible.

Careful with USB hubs; I don't think the Mi Box was designed to power more than one USB port so you might screw up your box by attaching one.

I've seen laptops conk out in the past because of USB hubs, hope you guys tread with caution.

Understood. I plug in flash drives on them. For big drives I use the china android tv boxes for those coz I need to root them to run apps I need. For the mi box.

Try the voice search and built-in chromecast... it's a hoot!

Built-in Chromecast is a dream.  My Chromecast unit heats up so much, to the point of video stuttering after 2 hours of continuous use (imagine the stuttering happening during the closing minutes of an NBA game I'm casting over).

Chromecast v2 costs ~P1,500 - P1,800.  So I can think that the rest of the Mi Box 3 features only cost 2k.  :)  I've already bought it, yet I continue to justify.  Maybe it's subconsciously for a 2nd unit.   ::)

On voice search, it's really cool when used for Play Store.  However, it doesn't seem to work to look for movies within the native Netflix app.  I was hoping I can voice search for Netflix content.  :-[  Maybe I'm just doing it wrong?

I do not have a MiBox 3, but what I have is an Nvidia Shield TV. I can say that an Android TV Box is smarter than a Smart TV. The specs of the Android TV Box is much higher that the Smart TV,. Besides, I could say that your Smart TV would live longer if you use a separate dedicated Android TV Box. In fact, it need not be MiBox3 or Nvidia Shield TV, other chinese Android boxes will do, such as Minix and the like....
