CASTLE ROCK TEASER:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGHupqE1LCI

From ComingSoon.Net

J.J. Abrams and Stephen King Invite You to Castle Rock

So what do we have here? It appears from the video that Castle Rock is a series based on the fictional Maine town of Castle Rock. Stephan King’s fans will recognize it from books and films like Cujo, Needful Things, The Dead Zone and The Body. It’s also referred to in Creepshow, IT and Gerald’s Game, among others. In the teaser, we see nods to Misery, Salem’s Lot, IT and The Shawshank Redemption. Does this mean we’re getting a series set in a shared King universe? It certainly appears that way. The trailer does say, “from the world of Stephen King.”

This could be really interesting, though we have very little information. In fact, the comments have been disabled for the YouTube video. There are a number of character names and quotes from the films in this teaser. Here’s what we do know. According to THR, this will be a Hulu original anthology series that will “weave together characters and themes” from all King’s works that are located in or mention Castle Rock. Each season will follow a group of characters and storylines but will bring in characters and themes from earlier seasons.

A shared Stephen King universe would be awesome, and very possible, considering that most of the stories and characters in his novels are occasionally mentioned in many of his other novels.

J.J. Abrams & Stephen King’s Castle Rock series gets 10 episode order

Hulu is taking viewers into the chilling world of acclaimed, best-selling author Stephen King in the new Hulu Original drama series Castle Rock, from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Warner Bros. Television and executive producers/writers Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason. Hulu has ordered a 10-episode first season of the on-going series, with production set to begin this year.

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: “Cujo,” “The Dark Half,” “IT” and “Needful Things,” as well as novella “The Body” and numerous short stories such as “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption” are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Castle Rock is based on characters and situations created by Stephen King. Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. The series is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Writer didn't do some research-- "It" was set in Derry, not in Castle Rock.

Castle Rock Adds Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek

Hulu has made two additions to the cast of its upcoming Castle Rock. Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek are set to join previously-announced star Andre Holland for the Stephen King anthology series. The Evil Dead star will play Jackie, the death-obsessed, self-appointed historian of Castle Rock, while the Academy Award winner — who previously headlined the King adaptation Carrie — will play Ruth Deaver, the estranged adoptive mother of Holland’s Henry Deaver, a retired professor whose fading memories may hold a key to Castle Rock’s unsettling past.

Bill Skarsgård joins cast of Hulu’s Castle Rock

Set to debut as the terrifying clown Pennywise later this year in IT, Bill Skarsgård has signed on for another Stephen King adaptation by joining the cast of the Hulu’s Castle Rock. Though the initial teaser for the King-inspired series does mention Pennywise by name, Skarsgård isn’t set to reprise his role from the film in the series. Instead, he will take on the role of a young man with an unusual legal problem.

It’s worth noting that Moonlight actor Andre Holland was previously cast in the role of Henry, a death row attorney who has a unique history with the town of Castle Rock, so these two will likely be sharing some scenes together. Other cast members in the series include Melanie Lynskey, Jane Levy and another Stephen King alum, Sissy Spacek.
