Great move by Ainge ......... this way, they get the high-motor wing player they want, plus get assets for a potential superstar trade later this offseason e.g. Butler, Hayward, PG, etc.

It's not as if the CELTS are lacking for draft picks, they still have some high picks (2018 Nets pick) in storage.

IT and Horford in their prime, CELTS badly needs a vet superstar to get closer to the CAVS.

Totally agree. They really do not need the 1st pick.  Interesting din ang Sixers sa darating na season. Fulz. Simmons. Saric. Embiid.

Anu ang ganansya ng Boston dito?di ba mas ok na kanila number 1 pick?

No. 1 pick can always be traded for multiple assets ......... minsan mas mainam to trade-down - makukuha mo na ang gusto mo na player, plus get some more assets to boot.

CELTS will get Jackson plus future picks which they can package for a potential superstar pick later e.g. Butler, PG, etc.

Good move ito for the CELTS.

May rumors din na inoffer ng lakers yung 2nd pick + julius randle para sa 1st pick. Gusto din ata talaga ni magic si fultz. Pero mukhang si lonzo ball na talaga sa lakers with this recent development.

I think it's a bad move by Ainge at least for now if there's no other succeeding trade in the works.. You finally get the #1 pick and you flip it for a #3 hoping you draft Jackson. But I sense the Lakers will take Jackson at #2. So you end up with Ball instead of Fultz.  The addition is a heavily protected pick from the Lakers or the 2019 Kings pick.  Both of which might not translate into the #1 pick.

^ Indeed, this kind of trade will only be "complete" if you can translate those added picks for a superstar vet ........ which is very likely. Ainge knows you need stars to close the gap with the CAVS,

IIRC that LAKERS pick isn't protected ........ in anycase, BOS still has the 2018 NETS pick (for now) - NETS will still stink next year.

The LAKERS tabbing Jackson does throw a monkey-wrench to Ainge's plans ....... baka D'Fox ang bumagsak kay Ainge - I'm sure that he has contingencies.

Yup bro newwaveboy the Lakers pick isn't protected. The Sixers put the condition in place. So Boston gets the 2018 Lakers pick if it's between 2-5. If #1, the Sixers still get it.

I'd rather see Jaylen Brown, Fultz and next year's pick as Celtics starters for the next 3 years. Hasain na lang yung mga young players until they could compete. Wala naman makakatalo sa Cavs and GSW for the next 2 years.

IMO more youth movement will be 'wasting' away the remaining prime years of Horford - who was their major FA acquisition last year.

The chance to get closer to the CAVS is there, just need to get those superstar vets - very doable at this point given their stockpile of picks.

GSW ......... yup, no one's beating them, but winning the East, playing in the Finals and getting your shot (no matter how stacked the odds are against you)  is a spot where all the other Eastern teams will gladly take.

^ to begin with, getting Horford was already a waste of time and resources. So building around him now is surely the wrong way to go for the Celts.

^ IT is a slasher.  Similar to CAVS approach, they should surround IT with "good shooters", and maybe a big with good hands (Horford and Olynyk are already good -- if they can get someone more dominant inside).  I actually think someone like Javale will do well, when IT draws the defense, and dishes it inside.

Whoever Celts get, they should do their part on D.  That's who they are.

Horford was a highly coveted FA during the '16 offseason ....... he was a many time All-Star during his stint with the HAWKS.

His numbers took a slight dip this season, but it wasnt far from his HAWKS numbers - it can be argued that it ws more an offshoot of being in a new system and IT having a breakthrough season. Despite being waylaid, the CELTS did make the East Finals,

Besides, Horford is on board for 3 nore years from a near max contract ........ IMO a bit risky to give up on him this early.

CELTS need more vets to get close to the CAVS.

Mukhang malalim ang draft na ito.

^ Yeah, looks like PG will be donning a new uniform next season. If there's a team that can risk trading for PG as a rental, it's the Cavs IMO. Or maybe Boston can give up its pick (or picks) and some players. If the Wizards had assets, PG would be a great fit for them too.

But ultimately I do hope he ends up with the Lakers  :)

LA should not risk any of their assets for PG. PG has a high chance to willingly sign up as a FA to the Lakers after this season is done.

LA should treat this next 2 to 3 years as a developmental stage for its players. They should prep for the moment when GS and Spurs start to get older and slow.  Thats about 3 to 5 years down the line.

kaya hindi ko ma absorb talaga bakit anong winning situation giving up the #1 pick except sa ibang assets na makukuhang kapalit.

^ PG's "broadcast" and his previous pronouncement that he prefers to go home to play for the Lakers will just arm possible trade partners of the Pacers to low ball the team since they are well aware of PG's intention and that he will be at best a one year rental.

Fearless forecast:

- Pacers trade PG to Cavs for cheap assests

- Warriors vs Cavs nanaman sa finals next year. Cavs win.

- PG signs with the Lakers in 2018.

LOL.

PG13 has talent but I don't think it blends well with the cavs offense. Will PG13 be enough to take down GSW, I don't think so :)

Agree with the earlier post that the Lakers should just wait for Paul George to sign up in 2018 and not give up any of its young players or the 2nd pick. I also read somewhere that PG, D'Angelo Russell and Randle have the same agent, so it seems unlikely that any trade with LA will involve these two Lakers. Indiana should target trades with the top tier teams, those in "win now" modes.

Meanwhile, the BOS-PHI trade will be made official tomorrow. Exciting times ahead for Philly fans with this core, assuming everybody's healthy:

We deserve better.

I think it's risky waiting on George. Right now Indy is talking to Cleveland. If George goes to a contender and gets a taste of going to the finals, he might delay his intentions let alone abandon his plan to go to the Lakers.   Re-sign for a two year contract with an option to opt out after one year.

It's also worth noting that if the Lakers plan to sign PG in 2018, they will NOT have enough cap space to give him a max deal. They'll have to move some stuff around to make room for him if they want him for max.

Lakers have cap space. I think they only have $47M in committed contracts in 2018. Currently cap is estimated at $101M.
