Oppo UDP 203 player.. very good !

the oppo bdp-203 is a very nice unit i plan to get another one for my bedroom setup and here i'll talk about a few things about the oppo 203.

few months ago i was one of the people who got the oppo 203. got it here in the forum from ricky and probably one of the first few people who got it. just recently i had decided to play with it. i use it as a network streamer for mkvs as the mkv playback beats the zidoo x10 (playing bd isos and definitely the cheaper x9s). the pq is superb. just running normally encoded 1080p mkvs you won't even look for the 4k bds. (then again that's what it's built for and it should be even nicer).

the network feature is nice. if you are on windows 8.1 it connects directly to the smb network folders like a usb drive. on windows 10, it connects to windows media player. be sure to set up windows media player properly like add the folders to video etc. windows 8.1 naman is straight forward :). windows 10 has some issues reading it by track number and shows the files alphabetically.

setup is straight forward. much easier than those little android boxes they sell for between 5 to 10k.

I told you sir les, hindi lang sa dvd, bd at 4k bd mag excel si oppo. Used as file reader, its really amazing.

Sa dvd days pa , maganda na file reading capabilities nya, only gripe ko is the slow reading at start up pero once nabasa na nya hdd ok na sya. Pero i still bought a separate media plyer and when i compared the video qualities, panalo pa din si oppo talaga.

Another strong point of oppo is sa music rendition, try comparing it sa audiophile grade cdp and even sa highly price dacs para marinig mo difference. I have a client na may tubed cdp and mas ginagamit na nya oppo for music.

Basically its an all in one player. Yun nga lang ang mahal talaga, aside from the unit cost , you have to factor in the shipping cost. This weighs around 18lbs, halos receiver weight na yon hahaha.

Get one before price increases , pero sa pdvd members wala price increase !

I really wish a Hack is release to allow the UDP 203 to play ISO files.
