‘The Terror’ May Yet Return on AMC for Non-Traditional Season 2

Quote
“When AMC greenlit the show now almost three years ago, they greenlit it as an anthology show. Meaning Season 1 would be the story of the Franklin Expedition, and subsequent seasons would take on a new narrative that carried the DNA that we established in Season 2.”

kinda sad ending, but from the start, we knew what would happen to most of the crew.

^^Yup, especially if you read about the Franklin Expedition of 1845, in which most of the characters were based--the two ships were reported lost, and their wreckage were found just recently in 2014 (Erebus) and 2016 (Terror).

This series exceeded every expectation of mine--it was a showcase of (mostly British) acting, writing, and production detail; everyone deserves an Emmy for this.

The muted color palette and brightly-lit outdoor scenes conveyed a sense of dread in the air. and even the music was unnerving and discordant, by experimental Swedish composer Marcus Fjellström, who sadly died late last year.

‘The Terror’: Derek Mio To Star In AMC Anthology Series

Derek Mio has been cast as the lead in Season 2 of AMC’s anthology series The Terror.

Season 2 is co-created by Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) with Woo, who is currently under an overall deal at AMC Studios, set as showrunner. Josef Kubota Wladyka (Narcos) will direct the first episode. The next iteration will be set during World War II and center on an uncanny specter that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific. The 10-episode Season 2 is expected to air on AMC in 2019.

Mio will play Chester Nakayama, the son of Japanese born immigrants who has dreams of leaving his insular Japanese-American community and joining the army. Throughout the season, Nakayama transforms from a naïve kid to a war hero.
