Onkyo TX NR609
« on: Jan 10, 2019 at 03:18 PM »
Hi guys, I hope I am posting this in the right section.  Anyway, I just need you expert opinions on my Onkyo tx nr 609 receiver.  I have connected this to my home theater 5:1 at the moment it was awesome.  Here is my issue, when I use it for music using my phone (e.i. spotify) via RCA jack on AUX, my Onkyo seems too shy on volume power.  I have to crank the volume 70% to 90% to reach the highest peak for my book shells speakers.  In some of the demos I attended using the same receiver, I have noticed the volume is only at 30% to 40% and wow, sounds was up.  I already did the sound set up by Onkyo but to no avail.  Hope you could help me.  thanks and more power guys

Yes, I did.  It has to be the set up of the receiver for music maybe?  These are 100W per channel if I am not mistaken,  I cant find the power for music.  I was in Shangri-la plaza at listening room, not sure, and they are using a 609 then and at 30 to 40% volume, music was up.

Have you tried direct or pure audio mode? To check if the DSP is lowering the volume.

in the other demos you heard, did you use your phone via RCA jack as well? Have you tried other sources (other phone, laptop, chromecast audio)? To check if it might be your phone having not a lot of voltage output in the headphone jack.

Not yet, I will try your suggestion.

I was not able to try my phone during the demo.  I will try other source as suggested.  I believed the phone has no issue since I am also using this in my car audio.  Will revert soonest. Thank you.

duly noted.  Given this, I was contemplating on buying instead a integrated amp. with at least 100W to power my speakers.  Any suggestions?  Or is it a must to have a separate amps.?

Mahina talaga output ng phone compared to other analog sources. May option naman sa receiver settings to raise the analog source volume, hanapin at adjust mo na lang by 6 or maybe even 10 dB.

It could be under the audio, input or source menu.

Better to use bluetooth connection between phone and bluetooth receiver connected to amplifier, you'll get better signal.
