ESPN: NBA Board of Governors expected to approve Adam Silver's restart plan

The NBA is planning a Thursday vote of the league's Board of Governors -- with owners expected to approve commissioner Adam Silver's recommendation on a format to restart the season in Orlando, sources tell ESPN.

The NBA has been examining several plans on a return-to-play, but numerous members of the Board of Governors tell ESPN that there's growing support for a plan to bring 22 teams to Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports in July.

This format would likely include regular-season and play-in games to compete for playoff berths in both the Eastern and Western Conferences, sources said.

* * *

The NBA has yet to endorse a plan, and only one of the four ideas presented on Friday's Board of Governors call is no longer believed to be a legitimate consideration -- bringing back all 30 teams, sources said.

The 22-team plan would include teams that are currently within six games of the final playoff spots in each conference, sources said.

New Orleans, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento and San Antonio would land in Orlando under those guidelines, with Washington joining as the only team within six games of the eighth-seed in the Eastern Conference.

https://tv5.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29242794/sources-nba-board-governors-expected-approve-adam-silver-restart-plan

Shams Charania of The Athletic also tweeted that July 31 is the target date for the return of the NBA season.
We deserve better.

Steve Kerr should be relaxed now - this sh1t season is over for his team and he'll have a guaranteed top 4 pick this coming rookie draft ........... when his all-star crew comes back healthy next season, he'll be a great coach once again.

It really wouldn't have made sense to have teams like the Warriors play again. It also makes managing the return-to-play plan of the NBA easier.

The Warriors and the Timberwolves would be the only WC teams not to see action again if the 22-team format is approved. The eight teams that will be left out would be:

Golden State (15-50)
Cleveland (19-46)
Minnesota (19-45)
Atlanta (20-47)
Detroit (20-46)
New York (21-45)
Chicago (22-43)
Charlotte (23-42)
We deserve better.

https://www.essentiallysports.com/nba-news-he-was-a-nice-guy-whos-done-a-great-job-jerry-west-presents-a-different-side-of-chicago-bulls-gm-jerry-krause/

This is exactly what I've been posting about during this Last Dance run ........... Kruase has always been painted as the bad guy - almost never getting any credit for the BULLS' teams that he had built.

If only MJ (or Phil Jackson) had given more credit to Krause - they might have learned a thing or two on how to run/build their teams properly.

Jordan's HORNETS and Phil's run with the KNICKS are arguably among the worst run franchises seen in the past decade.

Details of the proposal for the NBA's return by July 31 expected to be approved by the Board of Governors on Thursday:

* 22 teams to return to action at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando - eight of the current playoff teams from each conference, plus six teams in playoff contention: NOP, POR, SAC, SAS and PHX in the West and WAS in the East.

* Each team to play eight regular season games to determine playoff seeding.

* Standard conference playoff format to be retained, with a possible play-in tournament involving the 8th and 9th seed if both teams finish within four games of each other. 8th seed with the twice-to-beat advantage.

* Strict safety protocols to be observed. Uniform, daily testing within the Disney campus environment for all players, team staff and resort personnel.

https://tv5.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29260860/sources-nba-approve-plan-22-team-return-eight-regular-season-games

===

Not to be overlooked would be the status of injured players who could be fully recovered when the season resumes. If Nurkic, for example, is back to full strength to man the slot with Whiteside, it could make the Blazers really dangerous even as a lower seed. Or if Kyrie or even John Wall can come back? This really makes the zombie NBA season very intriguing. Fingers crossed that this plan is going to work.

Mukhang may pag-asa pa magpatuloy kung H2H, roto or points-based league:

Yahoo Fantasy Basketball 2019-20 End of Season

The NBA has made an official announcement that they will proceed with 22 teams to complete the regular season schedule.

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about your Fantasy Basketball leagues and contests:

I am in a Fantasy Basketball league - what’s going to happen?

All Pro and Cash leagues will have the regular season standings applied as final. We are currently exploring options, due to the uncertainty of the NBA schedule, for head-to-head, rotisserie and points-based leagues. We will make a future announcement here and on your league’s home page.

Ewan ko lang paano puwede magpatuloy esp if you have fantasy players from the eight eliminated teams. Kaya ako nagpalit na ng mga players na siguradong pahinga na, just in case.  :)

^ Yahoo Fantasy sent this update to all leagues:

The NBA has announced its Board of Governors and the National Basketball Players Association approved a competitive format to restart the 2019-20 season with 22 teams planning to return to play. With fairness in mind, as well as a narrowed player pool as a result of the new restart format, we have determined the best outcome for all is to conclude the 2019-20 Yahoo Fantasy Basketball season.

We will apply the current standings as final.

The season will appear as any other season. However, we are looking into adding an indicator for any seasons impacted by cancelation, lockout, etc.

Incomplete matchups will be discarded. If your league is ending, your level and rating are final until next season. This level and rating already accounts for any completed regular season and playoff matchups.
We deserve better.

there's noise that some players do not want to push through with the resumption of the games because of the BLM movement ... they think that the momentum of the movement may be impacted with the resumption of the games as their focus would be on the games ... it's not just the pandemic that may impact the resumption

With all the things happening in the US, it's more personal and more important to African-Americans .......... if some NBA players wants to march rather than play - it's their choice.

Hehe, of course, Lebron wants the NBA season to continue - llamado eh ............ last season, Lebron's body language was much different, since they weren't making the playoffs.

^ How about yung ibang players sa ibang teams na gusto na din mag resume yung NBA, llmado din ba sila?

Eh, wala pa yung incident na pinaglalaban nila ngayon, matagal ng vocal si LBJ tungkol dyan. Sa tinging ko mas maganda ngang platform yung NBA, they can do both, play and protest. Mas madami makakapanood at makakadinig sa kanila.

Opinyon ko lang naman, nasa players pa din yun kung gusto nila maglaro o ayaw nila.

Nakaka miss na din NBA, puro highlights na lang sa youtube napapanood ko.
