Hindi ba unfair sa toronta raptors being a non american team as well as
The depending champions? Talking about the boycott.

People were saying to call the season off because of covid-19 and BLM issues yet pinilit nila, tapos ngayon, boycott?

RAPTORS players are mostly African-American or African in origin .......... matters little if the team is based in Canada.

And how about the fans who paid to watch the games?

I understand they’re making a statement to voice out their frustrations against the systemic racism in their country pero boycotting the game will not end it. Again, yung mga NBA superstars are the most influential people in the world. Bakit di nila gamitin yun to influence other people and their politicians?

Di ba NBA nga reason kung bakit sila yumaman at nakilala?

Most, if not all, of the NBA ownership are with their players on this protest ........... how it plays  out ex. season is again suspended, done, etc, remains to be seen.

But for now, team owners are with their players and the Black Lives Matters movement.

There's a whole line of corporations, individuals who are waiting to buy the next NBA franchise for sale ........... even now, an inept team like the TWOLVES have more than a few corporations (KG included) waiting in line to buy the team, even in this age of COVID.

NBA superstars influence ends where politics and social issues begin ............ bihira maki-alam ang NBA players sa politics and social issues, recently lang kay Trump, Black Lives matter and some years back kay Trayvon Martin.

We dont know how this will play out but there is a very important meeting tomorrow between the NBA and Franchise owners.  This may be the first and very important domino to fall and soon after other American sports leagues might follow suit (NFL, MLB, Nascar etc) in whatever direction the NBA would go to instill change and social awareness.

Racism is everywhere. Kahit sa Canada pa sila (Raptors). Most of their players, trainers and coaching staff are American. Isa o dalawa European, Canadian, African (Ibaka, Siakam) etc kaya ganun nalang din pag-condemn nila sa racism.

I admire Americans. Yung tipong People Power.

Agree about what a poster said about Adam Silver. Wala rin siyang bayag, times like this nakakamiss si David Stern. Iba siguro paghandle niya. I guess my Raptors are still the defending champions 8) ;D On a serious note, call me biased, I still believe na kaya nila mag-Finals. As to a repeat, mahirap pero not impossible. Was looking forward to the Celtics series. ARGGGHHH!!!

True. Sa tin kasi if we're not directly affected, tuloy lang ang buhay. Medyo sad lang na ganun tayo. Kaya nga we don't see much rallies even before the lockdown in this admin.

kasi dito sa Pilipinas yung Political stand, belief or ideology ng maraming tao is for sale to the highest bidder. Dala yan ng poverty in our society.  Poverty is the best friend of crooked politicians.  Without it they would not be in power.  That why they do not want to address the issue on poverty in our society.  Unahin yung drug war, infrastructure, Boracay face lift etc etc etc.

Medyo out of topic na tayo hehehehe. Back to the NBA!!!

Report: NBA players decide to resume playoffs

https://tv5.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29752941/nba-players-decide-resume-playoffs

“ When games officially resume hasn't been determined as players and the league continue discussions, though the expectation is that Wednesday's scheduled slate now will be played Saturday, and Thursday's games will be held Sunday.”

“The exact timing of when the playoffs will resume , and what will happen next, is expected to be announced after Thursday afternoon's meeting, which also will include discussion of the formulating action plans to address racial injustice issues, sources told ESPN. Michael Jordan, the owner of the Charlotte Hornets and the only Black majority owner in the NBA, has become an important liaison between the owners and players, sources told ESPN's Jackie MacMullan.”

We deserve better.

From an interview I saw yesterday, Michelle Roberts (NBPA Director) told the players about the potential revenue losses about stopping the season.

She also explained about the further bigger losses, since under the current CBA, the NBA can and will enforce the "force majeure" clause and a lock-out will follow, preventing the opening of the 2021 season.

Yikes. Kaya siguro (among other reasons) back-to-work na mga players.

this happened during the players meeting.

https://theundefeated.com/features/nba-players-meeting-takeaways/

" The former NBA star Lucas also told the players that the league has come a long way since he arrived in the league in 1976 with a minimum salary of $35,000 with a per diem of $25. Lucas told the players not to “f— up” the league that has been built. Lucas got rousing applause"

"Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been one of the most vocal athletes in sports since George Floyd, a Black man, was killed in Minneapolis on May 25 after a white police officer kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Brown asked a bold but poignant question to the players: What is their plan if they leave the bubble and the season and go back home? a source said. Brown then asked did they plan to go protest and fight against police brutality, racial injustice, and more, or were they just going to go home and hang out with their families and friends. Silence and head nods followed."

"The players association senior counsel, collective bargaining Ron Klempner explained that between 15-35% of their salary would be lost if they ended the season now as opposed to losing 5% if they completed the season; if the players decided not the play the rest of the season, they could lose 25-30% of salary for next year. Association executive director Michele Roberts also added that whether they continue to play or not, the next collective bargaining agreement was going to be a challenge. The league could also cancel the collective bargaining agreement and lock the players out while terms of a new CBA are negotiated under the economic and societal duress of the pandemic. "

^agreed. parang NBA=MJ. Siya talaga yung epitome ng kung ano dapat ang player sa NBA. he raised that bar so high na IMO will not be replicated by anyone.

Everyone who will be rising will always be compared to him.
