Marvel's Loki (Disney+)
« on: Jul 21, 2019 at 10:44 AM »
Marvel Studios revealed new details about the upcoming television series based on Loki, which will hit Disney Plus on May 7, 2021.

The series will deal with what happened to Loki right after he acquired the Tesseract during the botched “time heist” in Endgame and teleported himself to safety.

Rest at the end. Not in the middle.

Owen Wilson Joins Loki Disney+ Series in Major Role

ComicBook.com is reporting that Oscar nominee Owen Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers, The French Dispatch) has joined the cast of the Disney+ series Loki in a major role. The identity of the character Wilson will be playing is being kept under wraps.

Wilson joins a cast that currently includes Tom Hiddleston reprising his iconic character, and Sophia Di Martino (Yesterday, Flowers, Into the Badlands).

Kevin Feige previously shared that the Loki series will also tie into Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He didn’t confirm whether or not Hiddleston will also be making an appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Rick and Morty veteran Michael Waldron is writing Loki, which also recently recruited Kate Herron as a director.

Kinda canny since Owen's own bro Luke is part of the Stargirl cast over by the Distinguished Competition

^  Well, a lot of actors have starred in both DC & Marvel movies throughout the years. Recently, some were even cast in both MCU and DCEU movies: Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Shazam, Aquaman), Zachary Levi (Thor: Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Shazam) & Laurence Fishburne (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Ant-Man and the Wasp).

‘Loki’: Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins Marvel Series On Disney+

Coming off Apple’s The Morning Show, Gugu Mbatha-Raw is heading to another streaming drama. The British actress has been cast in Loki, the Disney+ series starring Tom Hiddleston as the trickster demi-god and brother to Thor.

As is the case with every Marvel project, details about Mbatha-Raw’s role are under wraps, but I hear it is a prominent character, described as the female lead. In addition to Hiddleston, the only actor who has been confirmed by Marvel/Disney, Mbatha-Raw joins fellow cast members Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino in the series. Marvel had no comment.

Disney+’s Loki Officially Resumes Production in Atlanta

In a recent interview with Forbes, Gugu Mbatha-Raw revealed a new production update about Loki by confirming that they’ve already restarted filming on the Tom Hiddleston-led Disney+ series.

“I’m obviously sworn to secrecy about everything to do with Loki, but it feels great to be back,” Mbatha-Raw said. “Everyone is trying to do it as safely as possible under the circumstances, and it feels good. I’m excited. It’s a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see it.”

Loki: Sasha Lane Seemingly Confirms Casting in Disney+ Series

In a recent interview with the Golden Globes, American Honey star Sasha Lane has seemingly confirmed her involvement in Disney+’s highly-anticipated Loki with the website, even citing the MCU series as her next project. She also slightly alluded to the series when the 25-year-old rising actress was asked if she was a fan of comic books.

“To be honest, it’s never really sparked me,” Lane said. “I found a couple of graphic novels that were true crime murder mysteries and that was kind of cool, but I’ve never really had that kind of interest in them, though this one is obviously good (laughs).”

Should her casting become official, this won’t be her first stint in the superhero genre as she first starred in last year’s Hellboy reboot opposite David Harbour. Lane’s other film credits include: The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Hearts Beat Loud, Shrimp, After Everything and Daniel Isn’t Real.
