Marvel Studios’ first animated series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, What If...?, is coming to the Disney Plus streaming service in summer 2021. What If..? is a series that looks at all the alternate possibilities and roads-not-taken throughout the history of the MCU.

Jeffrey Wright will voice The Watcher, a race of celestial beings who observe events in the Marvel universe. Many actors from across the MCU will reprise their roles as voice talents in What If...?, including Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Taika Waititi (Korg), Toby Jones (Arnim Zola), Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster)

Marvel's What If...? Series Is Coming This August

Marvel's What If...? – the animated series exploring hypothetical stories in the MCU – will come to Disney+ this August.

Disney confirmed the release window, which narrows down the original Summer 2021 billing. The show will tell non-canonical stories from the MCU, including tales of Peggy Carter becoming Captain Britain and T'Challa (Black Panther) being abducted by the Reavers that took Peter Quill (Star Lord).

What If...? fills in the MCU's conspicuous August gap after Loki (beginning June 11 on Disney+) and Black Widow (coming July 9 to theaters and Disney+), and before Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (September 3).

Love the animation style! Really has that Disney quality to it. The episode really reminded me of Twilight Zone. Enjoyed it a lot. If I had to nitpick though, Steve's voice actor doesnt sound like Chris Evans at all. Tom Hiddleston wouldve done a better job. He does a great Chris Evans impression.

I also like the animation of this series. Reminds me of the style used for "A Scanner Darkly".

I understand that this series will consist of nine episodes (for the initial season), with characters from the different universes crossing over and interacting eventually in the latter episodes/season finale.
