Godzilla and Titans Series From Apple and Legendary Reveals New Title and First Images of Terrifying Monster and Disaster-Struck San Francisco

Apple TV+ has set a title for its upcoming series from Legendary’s Monsterverse: “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.”

“Monarch” is set in the same universe as the films “Godzilla” (2014), “Kong: Skull Island” (2017), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021) and the upcoming sequel “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Spanning three generations, the series following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

Chris Black co-developed the series with Matt Fraction, and Matt Shakman directs the first two episodes.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Release Date Set for Apple TV+’s MonsterVerse Series

In the latest issue of TV Guide (via Twitter/ X), it has been confirmed that Apple TV+’s highly-anticipated MonsterVerse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will officially make its debut this coming November. The first episode of the Kaiju series is directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman from a script written by Chris Black.

Thinking the same thing. If there will be lots of monster action and destruction, the production and effects budget should be monster-sized for a series. Or will they focus mainly on the humans in order to minimize the monster visuals...? We will see....

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+, Spin-offs Underway

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been renewed for a second season, Apple TV+ has announced. Along with a Season 2 renewal, multiple spin-offs are also confirmed to be in the works.

The decision comes after the first season of the Monsterverse series debuted to critical acclaim. Following the streamer’s new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, the series has received not only a Season 2 order but also spin-offs based on the Monsterverse franchise.

‘Prey’ Star Amber Midthunder Joins ‘Monarch’ Season 2 at Apple TV+

Amber Midthunder has joined Season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” at Apple TV+ in a heavily recurring role, Variety has learned exclusively.

The cast of Season 1 of the series included Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell as well as Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Midthunder will appear as Isabel, described as “an intelligent and powerful businesswoman.”

Midthunder is best known for her starring role in the “Predator” film “Prey.” Released in 2022, “Prey” was the fifth film in the “Predator” franchise and earned strong reviews from critics upon its release. She was named one of Variety‘s 10 Actors to Watch that same year.
