But seriously, like what I mentioned to the others, it's definitely more laidback, detail was good but not earpeircing, solid bass response, sweet sounding and not harsh on the instruments being played, and big soundstage. However, I've noticed the vocals are not as good yet. Need more time to breakin pa. Tried it with audioslave's M99 for the first time and mas maganda pa yung 542 nya.

Definitely there is a change from the Rotel and some improvements as well. But I would say the player needs more time to mature.

It was a good thing though I was able to dispose of the other CDP. Napapa-away ako eh dahil dun eh. Sorry talaga guys ha.

Best Regards.

Salamat sa lahat.

Kung sa magkano, well, masasabi ko lang, it's worth it. WATT HI FI can help those interested.

Definitely, I'll share information to the group.

Rght now, the vocals have improved, details have become better, and I noticed na mas laid back sya sure ako than my NAD before.

After a months breaking i parining ko ulit kay Audioslave. Magalig yan sa mga CDP write-ups eh.

Anyone heard of the LUXMAN D107u cd player?  Saw one on display in a store and I couldn't find any info on it.  For one, I think it's a hybrid cd player coz it has two horizontally mounted tubes peeking out of a window and some IC/SS inside. Also, I don't know if the price being offered (mga P10k yata) is reasonable for the unit.

Would appreciate any reviews/feedback on it.  Thanks...

Just wondering mga bossing...given the opportunity alin pipiliin nyo ?

Rotel RCD02+MF XPSUv3+XDACv3+X10v3
or
ARCAM CD82

already got the RCD02+MF XPSU+DACv3 and thinking of getting X10v3
ngalang I saw this Arcam CD82 which gives me the idea of selling my RCD02 and XPSU/XDACv3  and get instead the Arcam CD82.

What do you think ?

TIA

Sir KEN,

Audition lang katapat nyan :) But I would opt for the RCD-02 + X-gears.

Btw, if you do choose the X-gears, could you compare the sound of the RCD-02 system w/ a DVD player + X-gears?

Sir boomjam,

I have no experience with Luxman CDs but i found this post about your Luxman D107u.

http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/digital/messages/31823.html

Find a 2nd hand Luxman D103u, D105u, or D107u CD player and you will never let it go. Particularly the D107u it has:
-Robust Luxman Custom Mechanism
-18 bit Twin D/A
-Valve output stage (tubes visible through front panel)
-Transformer coupled output, to reduce requirement for steep digital filtering
-Motorised Volume Potentiometer
and SOUNDS GREAT.
-No Electrolytic capacitors in the signal path- only high quality plastic film or film and foil capacitors. This is not the case with the vast majority (probably 99%) of Cd players.

It sold for about $2500 Australian in the late 1980's.

Start Searching. Lots of Luck.

JOEY

2500 auds!!!!
whoa.

hi bubblebee,

Yung nga problema ko hindi ko ma audition wala kasi yung dealer dito sa area ko.
but last night I'm more inclined doon sa Rotel+MF combination medyo versatile
and secondly mahirap din mag dispose ng gear at the right price.

Probably I will have it end of this month or 1st week of next month... I'll post my findings dito para ma share ko sa mga fellow members.

cheers

For me, Arcam CD82 will give justice. Too much Interconnects, simplify your system, the more connections the more variables that affects the integrity of the sound (IMO), maybe can resolve by identical IC.

But the best thing to do as bumblebee mentioned follow your ears! AUDITION! AUDITION!

thnks sir  odyopayl for your reply...I wish nga sana I could listen to these gears but at my present situation mukhang malabo. ARCAM CD82  I guest  sounds good as well as simplify things  - but I realize it would be very hard for me to sell my other stuff at reasonable price and secondly the MF+Rotel combi can be use/test on the DVDP as bubblee suggested...may be if budget permits in the future and won't be ok with the  MF+Rotel combi; ARCAM CD82+X10v3 is a desirable setup ...specially with the ARCAM dual Wolfson 24b/192k DAC and Burr Brown op-amp + I guest it can be upgraded to CD93 by simply replacing certain module...these features actually are the ones that  gives me  the idea of getting the CD82 but at my present situation now, I believed the Rotel+MF combi...is more favorable for me.

thanks again sir...

The truth about selling pre-owned items too much depreciation on the original cost no matter the condition of your item :'(

Question guys,

if you are going to hook up your CDP to your receiver and the receiver has 192khz/24 bit DAC, does this mean the receiver does the DAC job and you dont need CDPs with hi tech DACS?

TIA

Assuming your connection is via digital, that's correct your Receiver DAC work 24/192. However, this doesn't mean you have already your best  CD player. Good CD player doesnt end with good DAC's there are audiophile grade CD players that still stock with 24/96 transfer. In my experience, I have a DVD player with a 24/192 analog out, but it can't outperformed my 24/192 CD player. There are a lot of factor to consider in a good CD player. These are the following (this is just me)

1. Wide soundstage
2. Weight (dapat medyo mataba tumonog)
3. AMBIANCE (it should be spatial)
4. Layering (You can distinguished  prooerly sized location of the instruments through the soundstage depth.)

I usually used different Test CD for it.
