hehehe read that too phil, i'll have to audition them before agreeing with that mag review  ;D
i'm just wondering how they would fair to other cd players?  ???
bad thing is, they don't have hdcd decoders, and if they're using good dac chips like burr brown.
the specs doesn't say.

The  D/A converter is Delta Sigma (CS4392)

The CS4392 is a complete stereo digital-to-analog (D/A) system including digital interpolation, fifth-order Delta-Sigma D/A conversion, digital de-emphasis, volume control, channel mixing, and analog filtering. The advantages of this architecture include ideal differential linearity; no distortion mechanisms due to resistor matching errors; no linearity drift over time and temperature; and a high tolerance to clock jitter.

The CS4392 accepts PCM (pulse code modulation) data at sample rates from 4 kHz to 192 kHz and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) audio data, has selectable digital filters, and consumes very little power. These features are ideal for DVD, SACD (Super Audio CD) players, audio/video receivers, CD, and professional audio systems. The CS4392 is pin- and register-compatible with the CS4391A, making easy performance upgrades possible.

Complete stereo D/A converter system: interpolation, D/A, output analog filtering
114 dB dynamic range
-100 dB THD+N
Up to 192 kHz sample rates
DSD mode (SACD)
Low clock-jitter sensitivity
Selectable digital filters
Fast and slow roll-off
Volume control with soft ramp
1 dB step size
Zero crossing click-free transitions
ATAPI mixing functions
Direct interface with 5 V to 1.8 V logic
Single 5 V power supply
Pin-compatible with the CS4391A
Package: 20-pin TSSOP

anson's had the sony set before: dvp-s9000es, TAE-9000Es and TAN-9000es. They had these units on sale with the TAE-9000es selling for 17k and the TAN-9000es selling for 18k, I guess the dvp-9000es was in the same price range kaya nabili kaagad ;D

Actually di ko na nagagawan ng review yung unit (I guess I dont need to, I just need to agree with the reviews posted in those links). All I can say is that the CD playback of this DVD-player is superb, better than most CD players I've heard.

Saan ba at kailan ang shootout?  I can bring along my RCD-1070 if ever.  Hope someone brings an Opera Consonance.  Never heard it yet but from internet reviews, parang worth the price of entry.

Tuloy na ba toh? San venue?

Anybody want to try apple to apple comparison on it's class? 24/96 solid state CD player, I'm willing to offer my USHER CD-100 over:
- Exposure
-ARCAM CD73
-Rotel RCD-02 etc.
Just to know any difference lang for our reference.
