The new NBA season is less than a month away, and teams are now preparing for training camps to open next week. Preparations include - for the first time - having as many NBA players and personnel vaccinated as possible from COVID-19. Shams reported today that around 90% of NBA players have been fully vaccinated.

While the NBA does not have a league-wide policy for mandatory vaccinations, cities like San Francisco and NY are implementing rules which require players of their home teams (GSW, BKN and NYK) to be fully vaccinated in order to enter arenas and to play in home games. Players of visiting teams are exempted from these rules.

One player who has openly refused to get vaccinated is the Warriors' Andrew Wiggins. The SF Health Department has announced that players like Wiggins who are not vaccinated will not be able to play in the Chase Center even if they get a religious exemption from the NBA.

https://sports.yahoo.com/unvaccinated-andrew-wiggins-cant-play-home-games-even-if-he-gets-religious-exemption-from-nba-212836170.html

Another player who is reportedly unwilling to be vaccinated is the Nets' Kyrie Irving.

https://sports.yahoo.com/kyrie-irving-reportedly-unvaccinated-could-212035968.html

On the other hand, NYK is one of two teams (the other being DET) with a 100% vaccination rate for players so far, according to the report.

It will be interesting to monitor this situation for the NBA teams affected in the coming weeks. Other teams presumably have players with vaccine hesitancy, and it's possible for their cities to approve similar rules for playing home games as the season progresses.
We deserve better.

though it's dicriminating, nevertheless, how can you implement a policy that you think is beneficial for all.  these times are just crazy. you don't even know if you will like what nba is doing especially if your favorite team or player is being involved. crazy times!!!

Kakaiba itong taong to. Very poor performance nung last season and yet sya pa ang nagmamatigas. Samantalang ang daming players ang gustong mag laro eto nag iinarte. Players like this do not deserve to play in the league anymore.

Breaking: Michael Porter Jr., has agreed on a five-year designated max extension with the Denver Nuggets, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

The extension could be worth up to $207 million.

Nice! From an almost career ending injury to this.

Dennis Schroder Claims He Never Got $84 Million Extension Offer From Los Angeles Lakers: "I Never Had That Contract In Front Of Me."  >:D

Hindi ba this is the same case with Dwight Howard before signing with the Sixers?  He was never offered a contract too?

nasa 40 players pa pala ang unvaccinated ... NBA wanted to impose mandatory vaccination but the players association is saying that it is not negotiable - it is for all of their safety and their families ... now there's also this -

Hindi ba this is the same case with Dwight Howard before signing with the Sixers?  He was never offered a contract too?

I think what happened with Howard is that he got impatient. When free agency opened, he immediately signed up with Sixers.  He wasn't prioritized siguro because the GM was busy hammering down the deals for Harrel, Schroder etc.   After Dwight signed with Philly, the Lakers then rushed to sign Gasol.  Unahan talaga yan once free agency starts,  Some players play it by ear for a few days of listening to offers from teams and then deciding.  Some just grab the first contract that comes their way.

I believe the statement of Schroder claiming that he wasn't offered an extension is just pure BS.  He didn't sign the extension because he wanted to listen to other team's offers but eventually nobody made an offer till Boston.

Mid Feb 2021 he was quoted in an interview:

“In eight years, I didn’t feel one time where I had to, you know, can sit down in the summer and just see the options,” he said. “So, we’re kind of, between these: Should we just sign the extension? Or should we wait until the summer? Because at the end of the day, I want to be a Laker for a long time. I always say I want it to be fair.”

Which NBA players are vaccinated, unvaccinated

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/list-vaccinated-unvaccinated-nba-players-ahead-season

Not much else disclosed in the write-up apart from the four players widely reported to be unvaccinated.

But in various media day events held recently, teams like the Blazers, Jazz and Rockets confirmed that 100% of their players are vaccinated, while a few teams committed to have their players fully vaccinated by the start of their seasons - meaning the few holdouts should be getting their shots by October 5 to 7.

Ang nakakatuwa sa mga unvaccinated players e.g. Wiggins, Beal, Issac, etc ............ they will let doctors operate on their bodies, take care of their injuries, etc - YET they will not believe these same doctors when they recommend getting vaccinated.

Wiggins is reportedly willing to forego tens of millions of dollars just so he doesn't get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, even if Lebron got vaccinated, he is not wiling to promote vaccination at all.

The USA used to lead the way in medtech and pharmacy research but decades of decline in public education got them here.

And then there's the Philippines. ;D ;D
