Sana magstart na ang bandwagon ng mga teams on developing young players like what Boston and GSW did. Nakakasawa na yun mga veteran players going around in circles looking for a ring.

I agree that kai's not nba ready now, and i think most teams know that, but he can be drafted on merits of his potential , since he has shown he is fundamentally sound,

He has footwork and shooting but lack speed and strenght.

And i think he will be drafted because its easier to develop strenght and speed than footwork and shooting form

Plus height is height.

Height is height?

He’s not making waves/impact playing in australia. I dont
Think he can making it in the nba. It would be nice for a pure
Bred pinoy to make it but realistically speaking? He’s not
That good.

I think it’s not even a case of being “hilaw” but more on him
Being slow and one dimentional.

Those foreigners being drafted  today  unlike before
Must be very good as competition  is very stiff as there’s
A lot of choices.

Haven't been seeing what Kai can do on the court these days but I hope he gets drafted. Its a pipe dream yes but who knows...maybe its time for a Pinoy to be in the NBA.  Yes realistically speaking it would be a longshot.  If he is that good then he should have dominated in Australia in order to get the attention of scouts but then again all it takes is one team to invest time and money to develop the kid.

Did you guys watch Giannis when he was a rookie?  He was probably 10% of what he is now.  The basic tools were there of course but that missing 90% came from player development and in the span of 6 to 7 years. 2x MVP and he is still getting better.

Jokic as well...drafted in the SECOND ROUND  and a 41st pick.  He was branded as a typical Euro big...soft, slow footed, shoots accurately from the outside, average rebounder etc.  The basics were there as well and player development molded him to who he is today...a 2 time franchise player MVP and a 7 foot reincarnation of Larry Bird. This offseason he will be the highest paid center in NBA history.  Not bad at all for a second round  41st pick.

Not saying that Kai will have the same type of career. We don't know his motivation and ceiling. He is still young and raw. All it takes is for an organization to believe in you. Everything would be up to him to meet those expectations.

precisely my point,  he has the basic tools to be drafted in the 2nd round, he has touch, he has footwork, he has height, he is coachable yada yada,

he's a low risk pick in the 2nd round.

if you see him not nba ready now, me too clear as day

kung ngayon ang kabataan ni Allan Caidic, he can go 1st round draft pick and make big waves in NBA ... I was watching a veterans exhibition game in Canada on Youtube the other day, he can still string 4 3-pt shots in a row at this age, and that was only an excerpt shown on Youtube ... I'm pretty sure he made a lot more in the early stages of that game

i think Kai Sotto will be drafted in the 2nd round. he has raw potential and height that cannot be taught.  another thing that makes him attractive to teams is the potential marketing opportunity, it's not a draft criteria but i think it will factor in to teams deciding on gambling their late 2nd round pick on him.

Caidic could probably be a specialist 3 point marksman in the NBA if he is in his prime today. He needs to bulk up toughen up on his defense though para prototype 3-D player.

His mentor? The San Antonio Spurs Assistant Coach Chip Engelland who is credited in having improved the outside shot making ability of Kawhi Leonard.

I think Kai has a future in the NBA. I agree he's a low-risk high-reward investment for an NBA team, but probably the small market teams would be the best ones for him.  I don't think the likes of LA or the Knicks are willing to wait that long for Kai to reach his potential.

Just found out that potential top pick Paolo Banchero from Duke is the cousin of Meralco Bolts guard Chris Banchero.

===

The 2022 NBA Draft is scheduled this Friday, 8am PH time. It’s probably the only draft that most Filipinos will watch until the second round is over. :) Like everybody else, I’m hoping there’s an NBA team that will take a chance on Kai Sotto - while keeping expectations in check at the same time.
We deserve better.

He started out like this:

and now he is this:

That's what 9 years of development can do to your body and your skills.  Reports say that all he does is eat, practice basketball, train, lift weights. 9 years and he ain't stopping.  You got to hand it to the Bucks organization though. They waited patiently to become who he needs to be. They didn't rush him.  They didn't trade him for a player that can contribute immediately to their cause.  Inantay talaga nila si Giannis na maging freak hehehe

Kai needs an organization like that.  An organization that sees something in him and will help him develop to who he can become. He is only 20.

^^ Based on their other posts, the Portland Trailblazers' FB page looks like it's being managed by a Filipino. Not as many clickbait posts for Pinoys on their twitter, IG accounts. :) The Blazers have the second to the last pick in the second round...

I hope everybody’s right about kai sotto. After all its nice for a pure bred
Pinoy to finally hit a draft lotto.

It might even be for the sake of “marketing strategy” since drafting
Kai brings massive number of pinoy fans with him.

Now about height is height” or the “future greek freak” arguement?
I personally dont get it as -tatlo piso- value of big men right now in the
Nba and i really dont see any potential  based on watching him
Play. Heck a lot of big men in australia is even playing better than him
And i dont see them getting drafted.

This is one arguement  ill be very happy to be proven
Wrong.

2 more days till draft day. Probably the only time that Filipinos shall be glued on to their seats up until the final pick is mentioned. I believe there are also quite a number of Asians who are vying for slots. A Korean and at least a couple of Chinese.

Kai Sotto is getting a lot of buzz. Could be a 2nd round draft pick. If ever he will be the 1st ever homegrown pinoy to be drafted in the NBA.
Some early sports vloggers are comparing him to Taco Fall and Boban. They say if these 2 can play in the NBA then Kais Sotto can. I think Kai is better since he more mobile have shooting good in mid, 3's plus good freethrows. I hope he makes it.

Bro Own,

No arguments here bro ha. I wasn't saying the Kai will be the next Greek Freak. I was just pointing Giannis as an example that if one organization sees something in Kai that nobody else sees and they invest in what the kid needs in order to develop then we might see results in a few years to come.  We are not scouts. We do not see the try outs, practice sessions and shoot arounds. We only see the game and that is only a partial window in assessing the ability of a player.  Hindi naman natin nakikita how Kai trains and his motivation to become better.

Watching a game and assessing the performance of a player based on  game output can be deceiving.  First is playing time. Next is the system employed by the coaches. Next is the priority of the offense.  Kailangan kasi aligned lahat yan bro for a player to shine.  Sample is Steph Curry.  He gets unlimited playing time, the system for the Warriors is centered on setting him free to take shots and he is priority numero uno in the offense. We all see him as great but what if he joined a team years ago where the Center position is the priority in the offense?  Baka hindi na develop si Steph in becoming who he is today.  It all has to align.

Whether it will align for Kai we wont know.  If he doesn't get drafted then he needs to work on his game for a few years more by joining foreign basketball leagues.  Hindi sya gagaling pag Pilipino kalaban nya.  Daming undrafted na players that still ended up in the NBA.  Hard work will pay off eventually.

No arguement here. I just dont see what most guys here see.

Obviously if its not “kalahi loyalty” that is play here in this forum
Then you guys must see some “tangibles” in favor of kai that i dont

REPORT: The San Antonio Spurs are fielding offers for Dejounte Murray and have told multiple interested teams it would take a “Jrue Holiday-like package”. (per Jake Fischer)

Atlanta and San Antonio have discussed a deal that would swap John Collins for Dejounte Murray, as reported by Fischer.
