'King James' now needs just 36 points to pass fellow Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record 38,387 career points after contributing 27 points in the Lakers' 131-126 loss to the Pelicans.

Reports: Kyrie Irving Traded to Dallas

The Brooklyn Nets are trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks are sending Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2027 and 2029 to the Nets in exchange for Irving and Markieff Morris, sources said.

The decisions that Cuban makes for the Mavs are sometimes head scratching.

- He lowballed Jalen Bronson and lost him in the process with zero assets in return.  JB is averaging a career high 23.2PPG/ 3.5 rpg / 6.2 APG.  40% from three and 52% from the field with most of his points from the paint.  The guy has zero off court issues and meshed well with Luka.  The salary that JB was seeking? around 25M per year for 4 years.

- He now trades for Kyrie and lost Dinwiddie, Finney Smith, a 2029 First round pick plus 2 second round picks.   Kyrie is looking for a 4 year 200M contract or he will walk at the end of the season.  His averages for the year?   27ppg / 4 RPG / 5 APG.  37% from three and 56% from the field.  The guy has a ton of off court issues. He has repeatedly shown his unpredictable behavior and beliefs that seem to sabotage the focus of the team and organization. He did that with BOS and Brooklyn.

Both guys have almost identical production.

Hard to imagine that this dude who incidentally plays great defense as well, was flipped for one of the worst three point shooters/high turnover/mediocre defense in Russel Westbrook.

I think Cuban is not at fault here. The league already penalized the knicks on tampering issues with brunson. Also they hired brunson's father as knicks assistant coach. So i think cuban can't do anything about it.

On kyrie. I think it can work out in dallas. Luka should just post up more. Also cuban is more involved sa players and always at the games.

DFS is a good role player who would have value on any team. Classic 3&D type. Alongside Luka, he was a nice fit and did other things DAL needed, esp on defense. But the Nets already have a similar player on the roster (Royce O'Neale), so I'm not sure how much DFS will be used.

News is out that Brooklyn owner Tsai “did not want” Kyrie to be traded to the Lakers

Kyrie Irving reportedly wanted to go to the Los Angeles Lakers.

And Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai didn't want to help make that happen.

According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, "one of the presumed objectives" for Tsai was to move Irving somewhere other than "his preferred destination" of the Purple and Gold.
