here's what some analysts are saying....Ja Morant is not a good point guard.  Serviceable at that position yes but his game will expand even more when he is at shooting guard.
In the off season they need to shop for someone that can carry the PG role well and can create his own shot.

If you think about it...the Lakers have 4 point guards.  D'Lo, LBJ, Reaves and Schroder.  That's the best thing that they did for LBJ since he doesn't need to have the ball all the time to create their offense.   What a luxury to have 4 players that can play the same position very well.  I'm sure they cannot afford to re-sign both Reaves and Schroder so they will lose one of those two.  I'd rather retain Austin Reaves since he is much younger and a much more skilled offensive player.  He had one hell of a series against MEM.

They will have to go beyond the luxury tax to retain most of the players they have this year.  The best justification for them to do so is to go DEEP in the playoffs this year.  A western Finals appearance would be good.  That will give them the motivation to re-sign and maintain a long term core unit outside of LBJ and AD. Teams prefer to stay under the NBA’s luxury tax threshold ($150,267,000 for 2022-23) unless they’re a championship contender.

for me it would be the ff:

Austin Reaves - Dito sila magbabayad ng malaki since other teams will offer him a lot of money w/c the Lakers can match or exceed since they have his Bird rights.  They were in search for a third star to pair with AD and LBJ.  Reaves showed them that he can be that guy.  His game is like that of John Stockton. Not flashy but uber effective.

D'Angelo Russel - Not at 30M/year as he is currently getting right now.  20M yes. a 2+1 contract. His desire to stay in LA must come with a paycut.
Rui Hachimura - at the right price
Jared Vanderbilt - at the right price
Dennis Schroder - at the right price

Lock and loaded na sila if they have those 7 players as a core unit.  offense and defense yan. Very tricky lang nga for them to retain all 7.  They will lose 1 for sure. Worst case is they will lose 2.  Dont waste any effort and cap space on the likes of Beasley, Bamba etc.  That 7 man core unit can lock down any team in the NBA and score with the best of them.
The rest of the roster can be 1 year contracts.

Agree with your observation on D'Lo's game.  Not quick but very crafty yung moves nya. Parang Steph Curry at half speed yung handles nya.  Hirap tyempuhan hahaha

Season series: Knicks, 3-1.

Story line: Miami’s upset of top-seeded Milwaukee set up another series between teams that were once fierce rivals. They met four straight years in the playoffs from 1997-2000, with the Knicks winning the last three. Their 1999 victory, like the Heat’s victory over the Bucks, came in the No. 1 vs. No. 8 matchup and sent the Knicks on the way to becoming the lowest seed to reach the NBA Finals.

Injury watch: All-Star forward Julius Randle did little when the Knicks returned to practice Friday after reinjuring his left ankle in the clinching victory over Cleveland. But starting guard Quentin Grimes practiced fully after missing the final two games of that series with a bruised shoulder.

Numbers of note: Jimmy Butler averaged 37.6 points in the first round and the Heat scored 124 per game, both tops in the playoffs thus far. ... The Knicks are in the second round for the first time since 2013 and haven’t reached the Eastern Conference finals since 2000. ... Prediction: Butler seems to be on too much of a roll to stop now. Heat in 6.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

No. 1 DENVER NUGGETS (53-29, 4-1) vs. No. 4 PHOENIX SUNS (45-37, 4-1)

Season series: Tied, 2-2.

Story line: Denver is the No. 1 seed in the West — and, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, doesn’t enter this series as the favorite. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and the Suns have that distinction, probably in some part because Phoenix went 2-0 with Durant in the lineup against Denver late in the season. Durant is a matchup nightmare for anyone, and his teams — Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn and now Phoenix — are 16-4 in his last 20 appearances against the Nuggets. Denver has two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, another matchup nightmare, and now he and the Nuggets will get a chance to prove a lot of doubters wrong.

Injury watch: Both teams are relatively healthy.

Numbers of note: Denver went 14 for 49 from 3-point range in the last two games against Phoenix, both losses. ... It’s a rematch of a Christmas game from this season. Denver won that one 128-125. ... No. 6 GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (44-38, 4-3) vs. No. 7 LOS ANGELES LAKERS (43-39, 4-2)

Season series: Lakers, 3-1.

Story line: Stephen Curry and the defending champion Golden State Warriors, against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. James is a four-time champion after winning titles with Miami, Cleveland and the Lakers; Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have won four rings with the Warriors in the last eight seasons. The Warriors needed to win a Game 7 on the road over Sacramento just to get out of Round 1, while the Lakers found their best gear and routed Memphis in the first round.

Injury watch: All of the principals are expected to be ready for Game 1.

Numbers of note: James has averaged 36.5 points in four previous Game 1′s against Golden State, all with Cleveland in the run of four consecutive NBA Finals matchups between the franchises — and the Cavs went 0-4 in those games. ... The Lakers outshot the Warriors from the field (.451 to .412) and the 3-point line (.352 to .316) in the season series. ... Curry averaged 30 points in two games, James averaged 22 points in two games. ... Anthony Davis played in all four games, averaging 22.8 points and 10.5 rebounds. ... Klay Thompson shot 38% vs. the Lakers this season, 32.5% from 3-point land.

Prediction: Arguably (we say that to be polite) the two best players of this generation, head to head, for a spot in the Western Conference finals. The Lakers are so much better than they were two months ago. But the Warriors showed vs. Sacramento that they still have their championship fire. Expect nothing less than a classic. Warriors in 7.

Prior to subbing the first 5 when the game was out of reach already, their bench just scored 12 points total.  Denver's Bruce Brown tallied 14 points off the bench all by himself.  Garbage points na lang nakuha nung bench unit ng Suns in the final 4 minutes.

Si MPJ ang weak link sa Denver. His defense is very suspect.  Jokic plays below average defense as well.  He is not an elite rim protector.  He tends to foul when you force the issue sa paint. To have a shot at DEN, you have to get him into foul trouble. When he sits, their entire offense stalls.  You then get a lot of one on one from Murray, MPj etc.  Easier to defend them that way.

The Suns are not a team that scores a lot of paint points.  A huge chunk of their points come from the midrange and the three ball courtesy of Booker, KD and Paul.   Kanina 1 foul lang si Joker.  Walang nagdidiin sa paint from the Suns.  Buong game si Joker andun gobbling up rebounds and running their offense.

Just watch how the Lakers dismantled Denver back in the bubble and you get a good picture of how a team can beat them.

for the last 5 yrs been watching jamal murray in the playoffs, their 1st 2 yrs na kelangan maipanalo ang 7 games of their last 8 games to get the 8th seed, 5 sa 7 laro puro overtime, halos lahat duon si jamal murray ang nag showtime, grabe, kung hindi lang tlaga na injured, but when healthy, lalabas kusa ang galing nyan..
