Sorry bro, but I'm gonna have to pass as a matter of principle.   Regardless of whatever point of view or storyline the movie purports to show, it doesn't change the fact that the ulterior motive behind the making amd the timing of the movie is to clean up the image of the Marcoses.  Keayo "tao rin lang" daw sila .  Yup, tao na nagnakaw at nagpahirap sa bansa.  I'd rather BBM focuses on doing a good job rather than claiming that his father was a good man and that his father's reign was the "golden age" of the Phils.

Watch it bro, it never said he was a good president. Walang ganun the whole time. Naka hype pa nga yung 3,000 shoes ni Imelda eh. There was no history revisioning. Again, I'm no loyalist. Just being true to myself and not joining the bandwagon of red or yellow.

You all assumed this movie is trying to change the history. Well, it's not. Why did I watch it, of course, I support my employer.

Watch it first before saying it is trying to revise history. I'm not a Marcos loyalist,  and I didn't even voted for him.

The whole story just showed the loyalty of their maids to them, not as a Marcos but as their good employer. It's also a story of a love of a daughter for her father. No revision of history there.

Again,  I'm no Marcos apologist. I know what they did. I'm also sure that many of us here, will not be swayed by the movie to think otherwise about what really happened.

Watch it. Gusto mo libre pa kita eh. Wala akong passes. Just want you to watch it before assuming anything.

P330M na and still going strong overseas. Tabo tabo nanaman ang Viva Films dito.

Btw, the OST songs are also good in this one. "Traydor Na Pagibig" by Marion Aunor and arranged and produced by her sister Ashley Aunor, both are the Musical Directors of Maid in Malacanang. The "Nosi Balasi" remake was also good.

Di na rin yan maiiwasan.

Yung movie kse very Pinoy. Alam ni direk Daryl kurutin mga Pinoy audiences especially very related-able sa mga loyal na katulong. Ako nga napangitan ako sa script dialogue kse walang sense dialogue and medyo OA acting and you can feel na the film was rushed pero ako lang yun. Majority who watched the movie fell for it. Talagang tissue box dapat dala mo.

I haven't seen it and I have no intention of seeing it until may mag-leak na pirated copy: I do know based on the reviews I watched and read that hindi binanggit ang mga pinatay during Martial Law and the sole reason the movie says that people are trying to oust is that "mga probinsyano lang daw sila at mga elitista ang mga iyun".

This is still a form of historical revisionism. They may not have denied Martial Law atrocities happened, the fact that they deliberately left it out to make the Marcoses look better is revisionism. It's like making a film about Hitler without depicting the Holocaust or without mentioning that he hated Jews.

You can totally make a film about the Marcoses that dramatizes what happened from their point of view and humanize them and depict their good side....but to leave out the Martial Law victims and their corruption to make them look better is, in fact, revisionism and deceitful.

I'm dumbfounded by the fact that Maid in Malacanang is STILL in theaters. Only Spider-Man: No Way Home ran in theaters this long in recent years. Is it really THAT popular? Or is there a concerted effort to keep it in theaters for as long as possible to either get as many people to see it or to make it seem like it is more popular than it is by keeping in theaters for this long?

I have trouble believing that. Just like BBM's 31 million voters. (Especially if reports of Marcos and their rich supporters buying out theaters and giving away free tickets/passes to boost/project numbers are to be believed).

So that you won't assume, I watched this at SM North EDSA. I was curious if indeed, most of the viewers got free passes. I was lined up, and observed that out of the 20 I saw getting tickets, only 2 has passes.

Last week, I attended a special screening at Gateway, where the movie I will see is beside the cinema where MiM was still showing. I asked the security and the usher. They all said the same thing, it's a blockbuster.

I'm not a loyalist, just saying that this movie was really a success in terms of gross receipts.

Go ahead and ask the Cinema employees if Katips was good.  They will all say, " sir nilangaw"

Apparently this has a prequel, "Martyr or Murderer", about the assassination of Ninoy Aquino and how the Marcoses were "unjustly and wrongly" accused as those responsible for killing him.
