Currently rated 85% on Rotten Tomatoes with 53 critic reviews counted. Audience Score at 95%.

Critics Consensus:  One Piece captures the essence of its beloved source material with a charmingly big-hearted adaptation that should entertain longtime fans as well as patient newcomers.

I've never read the manga and I haven't seen the anime but I've been really enjoying this series! I might check out the anime afterwards.

‘One Piece’ Producers Say Scripts for a Season 2 Are ‘Ready,’ Episodes Could Air 12-18 Months After Strikes End

On the heels of its splashy debut, the producers behind Netflix’s “One Piece” say scripts for a possible Season 2 are completed and that the next season could be “ready to air” in a year, once production is able to begin.

“We’ve got scripts ready,” Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios, which produces the live-action “One Piece” in partnership with manga creator Eiichiro Oda and publisher Shueisha, told Variety Thursday.

Though production on a potential second season would not be able to begin until the SAG-AFTRA strike against the AMPTP has been resolved, Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements says once they’re allowed to get going again, Season 2 could launch as early as next year.

‘One Piece’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

The live-action “One Piece” series has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix.

Netflix made the announcement on social media on Thursday, exactly two weeks after the series debuted on the streaming service.

Based on the popular manga and anime series of the same name, “One Piece” follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate who searches the Blue Sea for the mythical One Piece treasure. If he can do it, he will become King of the Pirates.

It's good that the series got renewed.

I wonder, though, if the strikes will actually impact the release date of the next season, as I really doubt they can release this series during the same season as the this year's did.

Jamie Lee Curtis Wants to Play Doctor Kureha in Netflix’s ‘One Piece’; ‘Let’s Talk,’ Co-Showrunner Responds

Jamie Lee Curtis is ready to be a part of the Straw Hat Pirates’ story.

The Oscar-winning actor shared in an Instagram post her desire to play Dr. Kureha in Netflix’s “One Piece,” writing in the caption, “Once the strike against the greed of the [AMPTP] is settled with a fair contract, I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha.”

“One Piece” co-showrunner Matt Owens voiced his support for Curtis joining the live-action cast as the 141-year-old doctor.

“Mommy dearest, that’s why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby,” Owens commented on her post. “Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let’s talk!”

Dr. Kureha, called a “witch” by some, is an extremely elderly doctor who works on Drum Island. She is the mentor and adoptive mother of Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, who is expected to appear in Season 2.

Mackenyu is coming to the Philippines

It's your chance to meet Mackenyu!

The Japanese actor, who most popularly starred as Zoro in Netflix's live action adaptation of "One Piece," will be part of the ManiPopCon 2023.

The convention will take place from November 17 to 19 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Mackenyu starred alongside Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Taz Skylar, and Jacob Gibson in the successful "One Piece," which is based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda. Netflix has since renewed the show for a second season.

Aside from "One Piece," Mackenyu is known for his roles in "Pacific Rim: Uprising" (2018), and "Over Drive" (2018). He also appeared in "Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter" (2021) and "Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge Of Scar" (2022) and "Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Transmutation" (2022).

Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Casts Baroque Works Villains Mr. 9, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine and Mr. 3

Netflix‘s live-action “One Piece” TV series has cast the first new actors for its upcoming second season, adding the comic book adaptation’s versions of four villains.

“Raised by Wolves” actor Daniel Lasker will play Mr. 9, “Batwoman’s” Camrus Johnson has been cast as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn (“Warrior”) is set as Miss Valentine and “Late Night With the Devil” star David Dastmalchian will take on the role of Mr. 3.

These four characters are pulled directly from the pirate adventure manga “One Piece,” created by Eiichiro Oda, and its subsequent long-running anime TV series adaptation, where they are key members of the criminal syndicate Baroque Works.

‘One Piece’ Adds Trio of Actors to Season 2

Netflix‘s One Piece is expanding its cast as it heads into a second season.

The live-action adaptation of the expansive manga and anime series has added Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray and Clive Russell to its ensemble of actors. They’ll each play allies of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his Straw Hat Pirates.

Coetser and Murray (Warrior, Raised by Wolves) will play Dorry and Brogy, who in the source material are the two captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates. Game of Thrones alum Russell is set to play Crocus, a wise doctor and lighthouse keeper.

Jamie Lee Curtis Won’t Play Dr. Kureha in One Piece Season 2

Last year, during the SAG-AFTRA strike, Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis had expressed her intention to personally lobby for the role of Dr. Kureha in One Piece Season 2 after fans on social media had been vocal about their desire to see Curtis portray the fan-favorite character.

However, nearly a year since Curtis’ Instagram post, it has been officially confirmed that the acclaimed actress is no longer attached to the role due to scheduling conflicts with other projects.

Speaking with Deadline, producer Becky Clements confirmed that Curtis “definetly wanted” to play Kureha in One Piece Season 2. However, the Netflix show’s production wasn’t able to match with Curtis’ schedule.
