For me ok din siya sa movies, though mas narinig ko kasi siya for music. Nakasetup sa 2nd floor ng Audioworld yung HT nila using Silver/RX series ng Monitor Audio. Dalawang beses ko na narinig, and I came away impressed each time. I think they punch well beyond their price.

Smoother and mas polite yung tunog nya kesa sa mga B&W (or the prior RS series Silvers). For me para siyang Focal but with some warmth and extra lows (though highs aren't as extended as Focals I've heard).

Mahirap i-explain, and we all have our subjectivities din. Mas maganda talaga kung marinig mo.

one thing though that is not being mentioned in this thread was that the RX1 being used at the ground floor of audioworld is hooked to the amplifier by a speaker cable that cost 160K. Please dont get me wrong as this is not to demean the excellent SQ of the RX 1 but more of setting expectations as the RX1 may sound a little differently pag sa bahay na naka set up. I find the RX1 in some ways better than the RS1 and vise versa and they have distinct characteristic. Which is better may now be dependent on preference of would be user.

Im an RS1 user and uses it for HT. I find the highs of RS1 more appealing to me as it gives me crisp sound on movies, which is what I like. I find the RS1 livelier and it seems it reaches my ear faster than the RX1. As for the looks, the RS 1 looks very fancy, which to many people may not be that appealing.

The RX1 sounds more relaxed and gives you a feeling of a coziness in the listening area. The looks is sophisticated and very minimalist.

AS for the RX2, i feel it sound almost the same as the RS6 that is in the LF part. Same impression I have with RX1. Sounds like a floor stander so it fits the bill for those wanting a bigger and fuller sound but dont want a FS. The looks is to die for for those wanting classy looking BS not to mention the Gold Series looking driver.

As i usually do after writing stuff like the above, everything is based on my understanding of things and terms and the way I hear them sing.

ron pag more on movies ka kasi i would suggest ko FS na + a good sub. di naman sa di pwde sa movies yung RX2. pwedeng pwede siya but syempre mas maganda sya for audio since nandun ang details. magkaiba kasi yung setup pag pure audio vs pure HT.

a month ago with rap2x @ audioworld auditioning the RX2 and RX6.

same amp, same wiring (per onkyo606) as in there's a big difference between RX2 vs RX6.

mas detailed and mas masarap sa ear ang RX2... as in napa wow kami.

We tested first the RX6.. as in sarap sa ear that meets our expectation
then we connect the RX2... kapaw.. napa wow kami as in ibang klase at ang pogi pa

Well.. as in can't believed what we heard.. as in kinabit namin ulit yong RX6.. we played four CD. then pahinga about 10min then kabit ulit RX2.. iba talaga yong RX2. parang USHER yang RX2.. lufet!

685 was the dream speaker for me as i heard it singing using a cayin tube amp before at what hifi. but forgotten all about those when heard the RS1 although with all due rspect to 685 owners, it als0 has its own beauty. RX2 when heard in AUdioworld HT room using a 5. channel receiver maybe hard to compare to a 685 or 686 heard in what hifi store due to the following condition.

1. RX2 is driven by a receiver in Audiworld versus 686 or 685 driven by a tube amp( if im not mistaken its
   the cayin that cost 55K.) in what hi fi
2. Speaker cable used in Audioworld is around 5k i think versus a xindak that cost 60K in what hifi
3. Audioworld room is larger with accoustics treatment versus a smaller room with glass walls for what hifi.

If the RX2 would be demoed in Whta Hifi, i have a felling it will dwarf the 685 or even the 686 becasue it sounded fuller in a room that is twice the size of the what hifi room. IMHO only

RX2 better than RX6? this is a matter of music type, room size, amp power....i think.
try playing guns and roses in a big room. i dont think the RX2 would come out better.

in a small to med room playing mostly vocals and light instrumentals, of course the RX2 would turn out to be a winner.

also, the FS RX6 might require a more powerful too...so the amp used for rX2 might not be enough to pump the drivers of the RX6 and thus, the bias goes in favor of the lighter load (RX2)


for the record, i myself am using a BS...because of my room size, music type, and amp power.

I'm sure the RX6 would fill a bigger room better, and would have less distortion at higher playback levels.

However, the RX2 was more than enough to fill their smallish room size with sufficient dynamics, and show good LF extension. I heard it with the Roksan K2 Integrated (rating: >125W@8ohms, >190W@4ohms), and that combo sounded dynamic yet refined. I admit that it lost some of the HF brilliance of the RS series, but I think it's a more liveable package overall.

havent asked po but RX2 is around 32 K yata with discount na so RX1 should be cheaper, RS1 naka tsamba lang po ako sa marketplace wala na availavle na sa shop eh
