CBS will air the prequel series Young Sheldon alongside The Big Bang Theory this Fall. The spinoff will follow 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, played by newcomer Iain Armitage, as the child prodigy navigates his young life in east Texas. Also cast as Sheldon's mom Mary Cooper is Zoe Perry, the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who currently plays an older Mary in The Big Bang Theory.

Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak will serve as executive producers of the series, with Parsons serving as the show's narrator, reprising his role as the adult Sheldon.

Why a drama?

It's not a drama.  It's a sitcom, but it's not really funny.

I really hate Sheldon Cooper on TBBT, he's rude and inconsiderate, which is supposedly funny for millions of viewers. He's an asshole who gets away with it.

Seeing a 9 year old display the same shitty, disrespectful behavior towards adults and other kids did not work for me. But since I only hate watch TBBT at this point, I'm not the target audience of this show.

I watched the pilot out of curiosity, but it's not a show I'd watch again.

Was not a fan at the start but now, me, my mom  and my nephew are fans. We just watched the series finale and we were in tears. Really great family show

It really improved a lot when they gave more focus to the other family members and not just Sheldon.  Loved the finale.

Just saw the spinoff Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding. It’s actually ok. They brought back the sitcom laugh track and it works, most of the time. It’s also nice to see some familiar faces
