it's like a 3D packaging, wherein you get 2 different pictures on different angle viewings of the cover. Basically, it's like the poster of Terminator 3 in the theaters, where you see the TX's face on one side, and when you look at it on the other side, you see Arnold's face. My guess is, we'll see a New York city that's not destroyed, and a New York city that's destroyed (as seen on the cover).

Is it like with the Ghost Ship dvd?

I see.. and that only makes it more of a must-have  >:D

Would you know if the initial release will already be a 2-disc edition? And what features are included? Thanks  ;)

from dvd.ign.com:

July 30, 2004 - Fox Home Entertainment will release The Day After Tommorow, the natural disaster flick from the makers of Independence Day on October 12 for $27.95.

The DVD will sport an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Extras will include two audio commentaries: one by director Roland Emmerich and producer Mark Gordon, a second by writer Jeffrey Nachmanoff, cinematographer Ueli Steiger, editor David Brenner and the production designer Barry Chusid.

There will also be deleted scenes, an Interactive Audio Demo (whatever that means), trailers and a weblink to a behind-the-scenes featurette. There will be a collector's edition packaging featuring a lenticular cover. Click on the Media Page link below for a high resolution box shot.

I predict they'll release a two-disc or better special edition soon after the first release. From the looks of it, mukhang bitin na bitin itong first release..  ::)

Well at least it has this lenticular packaging (i'm quite curious about this type of packaging), and what if the later release don't have this type of packaging? But then, if it will have DTS... oh I don't want to hate them when that happens!!!

Yup, I'll bet they do that para we'll be torn about which edition we'd want to keep and end up buying both versions!! Saw the Ghost Ship dvd at Astro, baka nga it'll be something similar to that. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see  ;)

There's already a review at dvdtown. Although it does have DTS, the disc is sorely lacking in special features, save for the commentaries, a couple of deleted scenes, and some short featurettes. The good stuff on the making of the film is only accessible via a weblink..   :(

I guess they're gonna make us buy two editions of this..  ::)

quoted from dvdtown...

"The DVD keep case is enclosed in a cardboard slipcase with a 3-D holographic picture on the cover. It's similar to the holographic picture that was included with the "Independence Day" DVD, and looking at it is at least as entertaining as watching the movie itself."

So, it has a slipcase... I don't have a copy of the Independence Day. Anybody who can describe what the holographic picture looks like?

I was able to watch this last night. Maybe my ears or my sound system deceived me but the DTS track is a bit weaker than I expected especially with the scenes where I expected it to deliver. But, oh well, it still sports a very nice visual effect and I still like the scene where NYC was swamped by the ocean and also those three guys in Scotland who had still managed to inject some humor by drinking Scotch while awaiting their end. I would probably turn on the commentary the next time I watch this.

I'd seen this once in theater last summer, and it's only now that I recognize that the female actress who played the role who voluntarily helped Dennis Quaid is named Tamlyn Tomita... name familiar? She's the love interest of Ralph Macchio in Karate Kid 2. Her looks changed a lot...

Hi RadicalDude, are you based in the States? I was just wondering if this title is already out in stores ahead of the initial street date?  :)

Oh, and Tamlyn Tomita also plays that b**chy girl in Joy Luck Club and is part of the presidential staff on 24 Season II  ;D

Brod hemi, you might also want to get Fahrenheit 9/11 coz this one too, have a slipcase. The slipcase artwork is different from the actual cover itself... Ooopsss, this one should not be in this thread... sorry...
