definitely agree....  although my local video shop only has copies of the old release by alliance atlantis (the non-anamorphic, theatrical cut one) for rent and not the new 2-disc one...  is the director's cut better?  i'm thinking of getting this one from my own collection...

bro, I haven't seen the theatrical cut but I did a little research and found that the bare bone release and 2-disc release have the same film version...but with improved video (anamorphic) & audio (dts) plus tons extra features the 2-disc version is definitely a must have. get this version bro! ;D

50 First Dates-  Another great romantic comedy by the Sandler-Barrymore tandem.  Barrymore had a rare disease who cannot acquire short term memories.  Her memories only lasts for 24 hours and when she wakes up the next day, she doesn't remember anything anymore from the previous day.  Sandler who really liked the girl and who eventually falls in love with her would find ways and means to bring Barrymore back her short term memories.  His methods concocted funny moments until he found a way to eventually let her marry him.

Enjoyed the movie all through out and felt good after watching it.  I would look out for more Sander-Barrymore movies.  Barrymore took an innocent-girl role here that after knowing her real life would make you forget the Drew in this movie. :-\

Eurotrip-  This is one hot and funny movie.  If you grew up in the era of Porky's, Screwballs and other teen sex comedy flicks, this is another one for you.  It protrays all the disinhibitions and the energy a teenager has specially with those raging hormones.  It will keep you laughing all the way! ;D

Strictly Ballroom from The Red Curtain Trilogy

the first film installment from Baz Luhrman's Red Curtain series. Though predictable, this is a wonderful and fresh introduction of Baz's both directorial weirdness and positive prowess to the Aussie film industry and Cannes.  We can clearly relate the elements that made Moulin Rouge "Mouline Rouge". Nice production design and play of language.  Needs improvement though on some film elements like frame composition and some bit players not knowing what to do in front of the camera. but this film is generally funny, engaging, great rhythm and editing.  Nice to know also that Baz was a former ballroom dancer in the special features. hehehe. :)

Also, I was surprised when I realized that this film/dvd was released by Miramax and the Red Curtain Trilogy Box was released by Fox. Breakthough negotiations i guess for Baz. Got the box (which I heard is now OOP) before I complain of the sky high price in the future... no offense intended.

:)

watched again these dvds.. 2 days ago...

The Mask of Zorro (Superbit Deluxe Collection)
funny, breathtaking and sensual. nice dts sound and nice film. medyo hindi pa sanay si catherine zeta jones sa camera acting dito.

Meet Joe Black (Ultimate Edition)
the most ultimate among the ultimate edition releases by universal.. two movies (including Death Takes a Holiday)  in one set. dts encoded and nice transfer. i consider this dvd set very rare and i feel lucky to have it. :)

Seven Years in Tibet (Superbit Collection)
great film... nice transfer and sound.. dvd not released locally though...

Cats - The Musical (Ultimate Edition)
this is the only time when i can say that the dvd extra features are better than the film feature itself. T.S. Elliot's book and the broadway show are better than this updated "Now and Forever" musical rendition. in my amateur opinion, this release is not so ultimate at all. buy this dvd only if you want to complete your collection and if you want to see a couple of redeeming shining moments. word of advice: watch this dvd before watching Oklahoma, Into The Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hey Mr. Producer.. etc. para walang point of comparison... oh.. i had almost forgotten.. nice packaging. can't remember if it was clear.. or opaque.. or transparent .. see for yourself... hehehehe. boy i was glad i got that off my chest....  ;D
