With that note, I can confirm it's really identical to the R1.

You should try this quiz, CrUzSACK. It's much more fun than the one on the S3 boxed set. It somewhat recreates the mood of the Apartment Swapping Quiz they had on the show. But you should have teams at home when you do it for the most fun.

But no reward for doing well... I guess that was just for Season Two.

My girlfriend got Season 4... and I'm happy to confirm that these sets are identical in packaging and features to the current R1 sets available...except they're R3 and much, much more affordable...

Kudos to Warner Phils. on another faithful local release of great dvd titles...now if only they could keep it coming...

Season 5 R3 will be out later this month or early next month. Season 6 R3 will be out in January.

OT: with season 4 & 5 being an exact R1 copy (with extended scenes), puede kayang mag re release ng season 1 to 3 na exact R1 copy din?

I purchased this and will confirm that it's identical to the R1, even down to the VERY IRRITATING Easter Egg.

Haven't seen any of the Director's Cut version of Season Three, though. Just the old set in a box. Maybe it sold out very quickly.

Saw the FRIENDS S1 Re-release in Astro yesterday. Can anyone confirm that it is FINALLY identical to the R1?

nope! R3 seasons 4 and 5 are identical to R1 but not seasons 1 and 6.
so far, seasons 1 to 7 are released in R1 and all have the same packaging
except the colors are unique per season. pagtabihin mo ang seasons 1, 4, 5
and 6 na R3 sa astro and you will see the difference. moreso, all seasons in
R1 are 4-discs but R3 S1 has only 3 discs. and R3 cover says it has the "I'll Be
There For You" video which is not found in all seasons of R1 except in the
series finale dvd.

I hate to correct you, but Widescreen, you are mistaken.

Season One has been re-released by Warner on local R3 already, and based on the sealed set/listed features on the front, the NEW version (that I just saw yesterday at Astro-Mega Mall) is identical to the R1, even down to the packaging: unlike the bulky packaging of R3 Seasons 6 & 7, the just released Season 1 is 4-discs in the fold-out style.

Other than the packaging in Amaray-style cases, R3 Seasons 6 and 7 are identical in content/features to their R1 counterparts, as well.

Yup, Hankey's right. The S1 and S2 re-release versions mirror their R1 counterparts. That's probably why Warner included the original season 2 discs (parts 1, 2 and 3) as part of their coming P299 sale.

avid fan din kasi ako ng FRIENDS and i have all of its R1 dvds and the original R3 season 1 (the 3-disk UK version in white packaging). when i read the post of Chet last week, i thought its my obligation (as a fan and as a member of pinoydvd) to answer another fan kaya nagpunta agad ako nun sa astro glorietta to check. when i check the post again yesterday, wala pa palang sumasagot kaya i opted.

anw, to redeem myself, nagpunta po ako kanina sa astro glorietta to check again. unfortunately, wala na pong season 5 but they already have the season 7 set. the result: what i said in my post before is true. the season 1 R3 (in astro glorietta) has the same blue box and cover as R1 but it contains 3 discs in 3 separate amaray keep cases that makes it thicker than R1 releases and the back cover says it has the "I'll Be There For You" video. i just assumed that this is the R3 re-release since i have in my collection the R1 and original R3 versions. i even took a picture of the dvd set using my camera fon. if you want, you can PM me your email address and i'll send the picture to you. or better yet, check it yourself.

This is my observation as well. I was really hoping Widescreen and I were wrong. Oh well.

I'll try to check this again for you guys. I just came from Astro-Greenhills, but they don't have any stocks of Season One there, old or new.

I just checked this by phone. You are RIGHT, WideScreen! Although the exterior FRONT packaging is identical to the R1 (Down to the "Now With Footage You've Never Seen" printing), the listed features at the back are the same as the OLD R3 - just The Rembrandts video. Who knows if the actual episodes really do contain "footage you've never seen", either? So I guess it's buyer beware for this "new" set.

Sorry about that! It was beside the other seasons and looked thinner than the new ones, so based on my previous purchases (I bought R1 Seasons 1-4 and R3 Seasons 5-7), I made a what I thought was a logical conclusion.

Saw the re-release for Season 2 as well. It's in one of those ubiquitous keepcases-in-a-box combo. Three disc set that SEEMS to list all the extras of the R1 (can't confirm because I didn't buy it and I don't have the R1), unlike the re-release for Season 1, which only lists the Rembrandts video as an extra.

Warner, I honestly don't know what to make of these, so I haven't bought any of them.

I just bought the seaon 2 boxed set pero wala yata yung mga special features. It clearly indicated in the box that it will have special features on corresponding discs pero nung pinanood ko wala namang special features doon. All it has is the music video and that's it. I bought it before I even found this thread. I bought it at spectra but I don't think I can return it anymore. Sasabihin na naman nila na it's not their fault and they are just selling those dvds.This is the 3rd time that I have been burned by r3 dvds.
