Oh, crap:

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, NBC may be about to pay a major compliment to Grey's Anatomy. Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that the Peacock is developing an episode of The Office that would introduce several new characters who would then be spun off into a new series à la Private Practice.

However, unlike Practice, which stole Grey's regular Kate Walsh to anchor the new series, the proposed Office 2 is not expected to include any of the mother ship's core cast. In fact, producers are already casting about for a "name" to headline the potential show.

So, your thoughts on whom the star should be? A downsized Jim Carrey? The underrated Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill, past due for a comeback? Mike Myers, set loose weekly in a blue-collar playground? And should NBC really go through with this plan, or is one Office a week enough?

They should just do some kind of bizarre crossover with Heroes, featuring Jack Coleman as someone who also managed a paper company.  ;D

This isn't hard to do, as both shows are on NBC and years ago, something like this was already done, when St. Elsewhere (a drama) crossed over with Cheers (a comedy)--the doctors of St. Eligius visited the bar and traded barbs with the staff.

I sure hope they know what they're doing if they cross it over or dilute it into two serie. The show is awesome as it is I hope they don't see this as something to cash in on.

This ISN'T just  a crossover, but an actual spin-off series, right?  Which is a silly idea, really, and typical of  big, bullying , belaboring  America/Hollywood.

The Steve Carrell Office has its moments , I must admit, (the Whedon episode is one) but its most prominent feature is its immensity and sense of exageration - - - it's, what, Season 4 now? - - - and how it seems to bulldoze any memory  or interest in the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant British original, which ran for a sweet, succint 14 episodes.  Half its fans probably don't know or care this is a remake.

And now, a spin-off. Not surprised really. Hollywood's big on milking the cow til its dry. This is a cash-in, no doubt.

BTW, they're calling it The Office 2. Conveniently forgetting that the American Office is The Office 2.

I assume you mean the first Whedon episode, with the bat? Last Thursday's Whedon-directed episode was what I'd consider a low point in the series. I didn't like it at all.

But, The Office is enjoying its best ratings yet this year, so... what do I know?

Yup. Not the new one. Haven't seen it yet. After what you said, not that excited to see it. I've seen l;itte of the new season but I think it's gotten more "American" (read : lowbrow) which probably explains the higher ratings. Or maybe it's taken the audience this long to acclimatize to the admittedly alien (to American TV screens at least) format.

I think the biggest mistake of the new season so far was having 4 hour long episodes in a row. Critics and fans have pointed out pacing issues and disjointed story lines. Funny thing is, once it got back to the half hour format, some of these so called fans and critics wanted more.

Steve Carell's resigning after next season: http://www.usmagazine.com/moviestvmusic/news/steve-carell-next-season-will-be-my-last-on-the-office-2010286

They should cancel it, then. He is the show.

Favorite past time watch namin to ng asawa ko, and we're longin to get hold of season 7 na (full complete episodes). I heard Steve Carell is no longer renewing his contract this March. That is so sad man!

Wala akong makuhang BBC UK version ng The Office. San kaya meron?

Yeah, but he didn't in 2007... when I quoted that article TV Guide wrote at the time. ;)

Wow.

I've seen great shows slowly whither and die, but The Office? It's actually painful to watch it these days.

How sad that NBC won't put it out of its misery.

I liken this to Smallville. I watched just so I can see what happens next. The same thing when anyone passes by a car wreck.

After quitting last season, I decided to play catch up this weekend, since I've been seeing mostly positive reviews online.

So far, this ninth season? It's pretty good. I think it's even better than some of the middle seasons of Carell.

Looking forward to seeing how it all ends.

The Office Cast Reunites for a Zoom Wedding on John Krasinski’s SGN :)

One of the best TV comedy series ever. Good thing it’s still available on Netflix US.
We deserve better.
