It's happened as early as 2002 although lead times were usually 2 weeks max for most releases. It's an anti-piracy thing according to one of my contacts. At 3 months, Troy still doesn't beat Iron Giant SE which has been out in Region 3 for nearly a year and has yet to be released in the US and Canada.

this is great news really... ! thanks to warner! firewired.. medyo OT but is there a chance na maging digipack ang succeeding 2 discs releases ng Warner sa Pinas...

Yup that could be better. The Lost Boys was just release on regular 2-disc set just like Matrix Revolution but no booklet but the loaded features were compensated for it.

Yup its R1 dude. No insert same like the packaging of 2 disc-set of Matrix Revolution. It will also be release on R3 as reported on that thread.

Yung one menu nga sa disc 2 special features ayaw gumana....The Return of Sam & Frog Brothers. Pero ok lang all the extras, commentary by Joel Schumacher are all excellent.

The transfer is also great much better than the single disc release also by Warner.

The retrospective documentary was a blast! Sayang lang walang participation sina Diane Wiest, Jason Patric, Jami Gertz & Barnard Hughes. But on the positive side the other technical members are all there...Richard Donner, Michael Chapman, etc.

This remains one of my all time favorites because I'm 80's kid bro!

According to Jetcmd, who was at Astrovision SM North this afternoon, Troy will be out on October 12 in 2 versions. The leather case version would retail for 1500 while the regular case would retail for 895. Astrovision has a 5 day promo for reservations giving 200 pesos off for the leather case and 100 pesos for the regular case. Deadline for reservations will be on October 11.

Okay, I was briefed on Troy LE couple of weeks ago but couldn't release details until all approvals were received from Warner's regional headquarters:

Faux leather crinkled paper oak color with interior in black crepped craft, with gold stamp TROY logo on padded flip lead
Collectible booklet from the Cannes premiere. Same edition as the one in Korea (but presumably in English).
Movie photo collection postcards* (to be distributed by Astro separately)

Release date of the leather-bound LE is 14 October, 2 days after the worldwide release of the regular version.

Warner also said that based on the disc samples they've received, the Region 3 version mirrors the Region 1 release except for subtitle tracks.

And the other piece of good news? There will be inserts.

I'll update as I get more details. They'll send me pictures.

Oh no! Still reeling from the Astro sale and here comes another one!

I hope Warner will be able to provide us the pics before the Oct. 11 deadline so we can make a more informed decision.. Sir firewired, has Warner given any definite date when the pics will be provided? Or is there a "preview" version in Astro stores? Maybe even a poster or a picture?

Also, will this P200 pre-order discount be available in all Astro branches o specific ones lang?

I called one of the Astro branches and this is the info I gathered: They have confirmed that there is indeed a deadline for the P200/P100 off promo on Oct.11. There's also a reservation fee of P200 for the LE and P100 for the regular release. And yes, it's available in all Astro branches. Although there are no preview copies at stores, there are supposedly banners in all the stores that hopefully will give an idea what the actual product will look like.

thanks for the heads up cherubrock. Troy Philippine Release LE is a rare occurence and quite happy i did not over indulge from the last Astro Sale... hope there would be more info on the way..

what's the usual ASTRO rule for preorders? can we pay the reservation fees and if all of a sudden the dvd is not as collectible as our minds have envisioned, can we apply for a reimbursement? or is this a touch-move gamble?

Saw the pic at Astro Sm North kanina it seems enticing will surely beat the Korean release....

I don't know if Astro will reimburse hemisphere in case you'll return the dvd....pero sa picture pa lang for the ist time I think it will surely beat the Korean release....
