If you currently get Cinemax and Disney, you're on SkyCable Gold, which is 800/month.

The Discovery Channels come with the 1100/month Platinum "Lifestyle Package," while there is a separate 1100/month Platinum "HBO Movie Package" that includes HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Signature, and HBO Family. If you want ALL channels, that'll be 1350/month PLUS 2000 (refundable) PER TV you will use the service on.

More details here.

What is the difference between the HBO channels? For the Discovery Channels, is the current one also included in one of the premium Discovery Channels?

I hope that SkyCable could come up with a "choose the channels you want on your TV" strategy, so that I can get rid of channels I don't bother watching like Animax, Disney, or Pinoy Movie Channel

The Discovery Channel (regular) is part of ALL SkyCable packages. No idea on the HBO channels.

What are the existing cable tv providers for Downtown Manila?

1. Skycable

2. Global Destiny

3. Dream Satellite

yang tatlo na lang ba ang natitirang cable operator? there was once a company that seemed to specialize in CHINESE PROGRAM channels, kaso di ko maalala.

baka merong subscriber dito ng chinese cable provider na yan. di ko gusto both skycable and global destiny kasi.

Comments = madalas ang interruptions lalo na pag-umuulan, konti channel.
Rate = P500/mo.
Reasonable = pwede na din compare sa ibang Rates.

skycable (no choice din).

the past days, the signal has worsened. now, only a few channels are viewable. the rest are snowy or with horizontal lines. prior to these past days, signal was very good.

i live in a condo, and it's 'cable-ready'. i don't touch the wires or the cables, i haven't even looked at the rear of my tv in ages. any ideas? does sky send people over to check this sort of complaints or should i not hold my breath or waste my time complaining?

most likely may nagalaw sa main box nila so condo ninyo, baka may nagpakabit or worse may kumabit.  Report mo, it should be easy to fix.

I also live in a condo and this happened to me (Cablelink Paranaque), when the tech guys came in and adjusted the wires, my reception went back to "normal".  Imagine my surprise when the tech guys said "pangit pa rin"  They tried to improve it wala nangyari.  I said "ok na sa akin ito, normal na siya".  They concluded that the wires going up to the units which were laid out by the developers were inferior.  They said "sir, dapat mas maganda pa dyan pero wala na kami magagawa, wiring na ng building ang problema".  :D

just an update on my skycable problem. signal is back to normal. when i called their hotline  yesterday, i was informed that the problem wasn't isolated but is area-wide. and that they were checking the area. anyway, when i got back last night, everything was fine.

Do you actually watch anything on channles 58 to 77?

I'd be thankful if I were on Silver and those filler channels were removed, replaced with the other ones you just mentioned.

Hey guys, here's a question. Would you still continue your subscription to Skycable if they, for instance, announce that they will be removing all of Solar's channels? That would be Jacktv, Second avenue, that other entertainment channel, and solar sports.

I was gonna say "No," but then I realized that I don't think it would matter to me, since I very rarely watch anything aired on SkyCable beyond news and tennis, anyway.  ;D

Yes, so long as basketball tv (which i think is also a Solar channel) is retained. More importantly, I will answer 'Yes' because I have no other choice as my condo is 'skycable-locked'.  ;D

Well, it's good while it lasts. Skycable recently installed our digibox. It's back to Silver package. And now we only have 1 TV that's on cable.

Is it true that all Home Cable subscribers must move to their new digital tuner box? Is this mandatory? I am not so excited about it since I am sure they will jack up the subscription rates later once everyone has moved over. The other catch is, I need to put a digital box for each and every TV in the house right?

Jackryan, here are the answers to your query.

Is it true that all Home Cable subscribers must move to their new digital tuner box? Is this mandatory?

Yes, once SkyCable encrypts the signal in your area, you would really need to have the digibox. SkyCable will inform you about it. By the way, Home Cable is now SkyCable Silver.

I am not so excited about it since I am sure they will jack up the subscription rates later once everyone has moved over.

Um, no, subscription rates will stay the same.

The other catch is, I need to put a digital box for each and every TV in the house right?

Yes again, but I heard the subscribers are entitled for 2 free digibox per household, the 3rd one will cost between 1500 and 2000 pesos. Though, I don't know if the 2nd free digibox is a promo and when it will last.

Thanks... finally had the digibox installed. I was not informed that I can have the option to get the 2nd free digibox due to on-going promo. How can I check this further?

I am working on getting sat-tv feeds and also hoping that Destiny can serve my street... i wonder how many folks are jumping to Destiny because of this mandatory digibox implementation?

appreciate the info...

You can get a 2nd digibox for free for the 2nd TV, as long as the extension is legal.

^If both are available in my area, I'd choose Destiny. I like the line-up, Discovery Turbo, History, etc. for Php500/month.
