Topic: Great films with not-so-great DVD treatment

What movies do you guys think has the worst DVD treatment in terms of video transfer and sound quality? As well as lack of special features? packaging? and others you think would count.

For me, Running on Empty (1988) directed by Sidney Lumet, and stars Christine Lahti, Judd Hirsh, Martha Plimpton and the late River Phoenix has the worst treatment in the history of DVDs.

Why?

1. not so good video, noticable specks and grains.

2. soundtrack is in 2.0 dolby stereo. (has french dubbed dialogue though)

3. generic menu screen with no significant pictures in it, just a logo of Warner bros. studio, and thats it.

4. doesn't have any subtles, although closed captioned (which requires a decoder)

5. doesn't have any single feature, even a single trailer is no where to be found.

James Cameron's Titanic. For a movie that reaped almost all awards at the Oscars, Paramount studio should be generous enough to make a 2 to 3 discs special edittion of this one. Yes, the previous release is THX mastered but it's not anamorphic... I guess they're waiting a 10 year period before they re-release this in an anniversary edition... what do you think?

Wings of Desire. Hands down. The print looks crap and the packaging is so mundane.  :'(

Maybe they would rerelease this by 2008, in a 40th anniversary edition. After all, when the DVD was released in 2001, hindi pa uso and mga 2-discs versions...  same with Elephant Man, which is now heavily discounted at Amazon (does that portend something?)

The local DVD5 versions, though very cheap (P150) is probably even grainier, though I haven't checked.

I can't understand why they didn't include the Tagalog language track of this movie on the R3 DVD, considering it was such a major thing when the film was released in local theaters.

Wesley Snipes version: "You play roulette? Always bet on black!"

Anthony Alonzo version: "Naglalaro ka ng roleta? Lagi kang tataya sa itimmmmmm!"

still Lion in Winter is an awesome movie the acting is superb
and I love the opening theme

additional movies that need better DVD treatment

So Close = severely lacks bounus materials. I want a feature about the beautifully choreographed action
                  scenes.

Once Upon a Time in America = The movie is spread over 2-discs but, unlike Lawrence of Arabia the film
                               isn't cut during the intermission. It was cut in the middle of an action seen!  Ngek!

Phantom of the Opera = The sound isn't balanced well, the orchestra is thunderous and loud but the voices   
                                  too soft.

Around the World in 80 Days(1956) = sound is also not balanced well and the features just talk about
                                   Micheal Todd, Micheal Todd, Micheal Todd

Oh yuh, can't forget The Godfather (1972)
