I too was almost swindled by an ebay.ph seller last year.
He was selling Smallville S4 for 900 (among other tv series titles), and the auction title specifically indicated that it was "sealed original region 1".
because of the low price, i immediately had doubts. when i first texted him i repeatedly asked "are you sure it's orig r1?" almost to the point of saying "coz i only collect originals and i'll know in an instant if it's fake".
still, he confirmed it was orig, and reassuringly said "meet na lang tayo para makita mo." i had him meet me near my house so i won't be too inconvenienced in case he's pulling one on me.
because my gut was telling me he was trying to con me, i even decided to bring my smallville s1, not for comparison purposes, but to shame him if my gut-feel was right! (shame on me)
so i went to meet him, and even before he fully took the DVD out of his paper bag, i knew, like most of us members here, that it was fake. a run-of-the mill, quiapo version, i may add. but to his credit, it was shrink-wrapped.
still, probably because i was in a decent mood that day, i did my best to still be courteous and think well of his intentions. sabi ko na lang: "ahh. kasi pirated ito eh. gusto ko sana orig" and some other small talk. of course, i showed him the original specimen, and he had a rather passive, blank, and innocent, i must say, expression on his face. when i asked where he got it (feigning interest), he mumbled something about his girlfriend getting it somewhere.
buti na lang the entire meeting took all of about 10minutes of my time. i soon forgot his ebay handle as i made up my mind not to think about the incident anymore. he's probably still selling his wares there.
