They come in either tube or ss rectified. About 35 watts/channel. Preamp uses 6n1p or 6922, phase splitter I think is 12au7, then Svetlana el34 for output. There's a power amp model that's slightly cheaper (P16.5K). Aside from having no volume control, the preamp section is ommitted. There are only two input sources. Triode or ultralinear selectable.

I believe its 25 watts and EH el34 was used we just ask edwin to swap the power tube to svetlana (pero plus extra 1,300 ) coz mas mahal yun svetlana sa EH.

there is an el84 based amx integrated amp selling for 14k, it uses 2 pairs of el84s, forgot the driver tubes though.

Dear all,

I'm a newbie here, and definitely wet behind the ears when it comes to tube amps.

I wish to switch to tube amps especially after I heard my favorite band (Acoustic Alchemy) being played on my friend's VTL. Sabi niya nakaka-addict daw makinig sa tube amps. I agree! And now I'm switching over the tube amps.

The problem is that I don't know what to look for in terms of quality and delivery of good sounds.

Can you guys help a newbie like me?

I believe that it is only you who can decide on the quality of sound...at the end of the day, it is you who will listen to the amp... who will appreciate the tube magic and no one else. though an old cliche, let your ears decide and not others.

the forum here would act only as a guide or reference for your search of sonic nirvana, so they say.

Yes, I'll bring a couple of Acoustic Alchemy CDs with me to test the tubes that will suit my taste. I'll be scouring Makati Cinema Square and Park Square this Saturday.

To the other friends that I haven't met here, can you recommend some stores that offer affordable yet fantastic amps? I believe there is a topic here somewhere that lists the addresses of these stores. However, I will really value whatever inputs that you may have regarding their staff and stuff.

A private mail will be excellent so as not to offend the stores that do not meet your auditory and public relations standards.

Again, many thanks for helping a newbie like me discover the wonderful world of good tube amps and music.
