Cheap DVD Players
« on: Dec 21, 2003 at 10:23 AM »
Hi all. i am thinking of buying dvd players for gifts and
as alternate players.  I'm considering Orange 122 and Rongkin 123? because of its size, which can be had in Raon for 2500 (2900 in greenhills).  There may be trade-offs in performance, but if it reads 90% of the discs, its okay for me.

Are there any other brands?

Thanks.

Rongxin, Ahhoo, Kebao, Nextbase, etc., all those DVD players that sell for P5000 down. I've read somewhere that these players are actually robust DVD-ROM drives in disguise. Is there any truth to this?

Not true. Nextbase uses a dvd loader. I have trouble shoot 1 dvd player the brand is SANY ata and this one uses a dvd-rom drive. So others uses dvd-rom drive others don't.

I saw the Rongxing/Suao DVD player at the Raon Shopping Mall. It's mid sized, has VGA out and is progscan capable.

It's asking price is Php 2,200.00, which is easily haggled down to 2,150 pesos. I saw it being sold at the stalls near the NMB(Kebao) Stall. ;)

Avoid the following brands for the meantime:

Lexing
Hug
Xcellent
Ahoo

Maraming bumabalik sa mga stores at problematic daw ang mga units na ito according to my conversations with several store owners and attendants.

For P2,500 or less, try Starfast or VMS - mas ok daw than the four listed above according to my friends at DVD stores.

Ok ka sir ha, merong DVD player sa maid's room? Sarap mo maging amo ha...

Ano ba binabala mo sa maid mo? hehehe...  ::)

We want to buy a DVD player for the maid's room.  I don't want any expensive ones because I know they'll eventually break it.  They also have a small TV, so durability of the player and picture quality are my main priority.  My limit is P4,000.  When I go to Raon, they have a bunch to choose from and they all look the same to me.

Which brand should I look for?
