Further Details
Early disc specs have arrived for the new extended edition of Ridley Scott's Gladiator which stars Russell Crowe. The three-disc set will be available to own from the 7th June, and will add seventeen minutes of additional footage to the film. The original theatrical cut will also be included, so no need to worry about that. The complete technical specs haven't been revealed yet I'm afraid, although we'd be very surprised if DTS wasn't offered once again. We'll bring you further details and the official artwork shortly, but for now here's the full rundown on the extra material. We'd like to extend our thanks to Lara Means for this one.

Finally, we've learned that there will be no DTS track, owing to the disc space demands of including two versions of the film on a single DVD disc via seamless branching, while still keeping the presentation quality high (an unfortunate but understandable sacrifice that will nevertheless likely be a sticking point with some fans).

I have second thoughts on this edition. Now that hemisphere said that DTS will not be included. If I remember right....Sir Ridley Scott prefers the theatrical cut of Gladiator same with his ALIEN
& HANNIBAL.

actually, i was disappointed after i've learned that this release would not have the DTS audio track. but because of the wealth of features not found on the first release, i might get this EE to complete the saga.

It's a disappointing release considering the bounty of extras. I was already thinking if I'll dispose my Signature Series thru marketplace on my next batch of dvds......

as i had always encountered on dvd review final thought: the special feature are sometimes viewed only once... it is the main feature film that will have a repeat viewing value

My R1 has a broken hole -- crappy disc holder on that DVD, yours too? So when news of this came out it seems like a good opportunity to replace it. But I won't. The reason is simple -- the high-def version will be with us in a year or two.

Ok, repeat after me: I'll wait for that one instead.

Parang medyo mahal for $ 27.99.Pero I don't have this title yet. No dts

.I think I have to wait for the ultimate edition or HD edition

. May time pa naman mag isip. August 23 pa naman ang release.

Looks like same price of a Criterion Collection two-disc set.......still we have enough time to decide whether to double dip or not.

at that price it would still be a very good deal considering it is 3-discs.
