Can i ask owners (both former or current) to please comment on these speakers. The reviews are quite impressive but i would appreciate hearing testimonials from audio enthusiasts in this forum.

Based on the current version of the digms, the mini monitor has a bigger cabinet over the atom.

and bigger driver atoms are 5 1/2 and the mini's are 6 1/5 but based on reviews the atoms are very, very, very, very good sounding speakers in the price to performance ratio.

yes the minis are a notch above the entry-level atoms in the monitor series. even all specs are in favor of the minis. can't comment on the sq diff though as i haven't done a head-to-head comparison.

the benefit of a bigger woofer driver is for the midbass :) it will have nicer extension kesa sa small speaker :) Even if you have subwoofer

They also tend to be more sensitive, so you can play louder (or get better transients) without hitting the amp's limits.

Since the bigger woofer gets louder at the same signal level, less attenuation is needed for the other driver/s. In the typical passive layout, the reduced attenuation allows for better damping/control of the affected drivers (which can sometimes help in defining mids and highs).

Bigger drivers tend to have worse off-axis response near the limits of its upper freq extension though. This is why 2-way designs with big woofers tend to cross low and/or use a steeper crossover slope.
