After a long wait, Albert Von Schweikert's line of solid bang for the buck speakers are back. A flood wiped out their factory in new york some years back. They have since relocated to sunny Southern California and are again making waves in the industry with a loudspeaker line that spans from $1000 reference studio monitors to $160,000 custom creations. At present 3 models are now available here: the SET friendly VR-1 bookshelf at $1000, the $2500 VR-2 compact floor stander that goes down to 25Hz, and the $4,000 VR-4jr showered with praise by HP and Sue Craft of TAS. Coming soon are the LCR-15 center speaker (can be used as left and right fronts speakers too), and the TS-150 di-polar surround speakers (it can go mono with the flick of a switch for DVD-A and SACD surround freaks). 

The VR1s, VR2s and VR4jrs are displayed in a private demo room and can be seen by appointment (pm me).  The VR-1s can also be auditioned at Rene Rivo's place.  Home Theater packages will also be available soon via our friends at Electronics Depot.

For the Home Theater afficionado, our center LCR 15 speaker has likewise arrived. The LCR 15 is a full-range speaker that "may be used as either a full range speaker system in a conventional stereo music setup, or as a dedicated dialogue speaker in a Home Theater application (LCR designates a speaker that can be used in the Left, Center, and Right main positions). As a full-range speaker for music, VSA has engineered powerful bass response combined with spectacular stereo imaging. For use as a dialog speaker for home theater, we have created very high vocal intelligibility into the LCR-15 by the use of two small bass/midrange drivers instead of one larger unit, enabling a quasi three-way design." The LCR 15s have a sensitivity of 87.5 db @ 1 watt/1 meter. They boast a frequency range of 35 Hz to 25 kHz (-6dB points, in room) and are rated at 8 watts mininimum (200 watts peak) at 8 ohms (nominal). They are also SET friendly. It would be interesting to listen to a pair of these with an SET amp.

We'd like to invite everyone to the November HiFi Show 2006. We will be at rm 614.  Speakers of course will be by Von Schweikert, source from EMM Labs or Audio Aero and electronics by Mark Levinson c/o our friends at AV Driver.   

We will feature for the first time in the November Show, the much awarded VR4jr, and it's bigger brother the VR-5 SE.  Do feel free to drop by and have a listen.
