I had a 5500S for a night and it's not worth P6,7xx
My NextBase can reads DVD/CDs faster plus the NextBase remote is more ergonomic than the 5500S.
The 5500S also has no Volume Control. (for those of you guys that doesn't have an Amp w/ remote. That sucks especially cuz I tried hooking it up on my Altec Lansing 621 which has a wired remote.)
I got a Fukuda 881 instead. I can do pretty much everything the Philips 5500S can do plus it has VOLUME CONTROL on the remote at
HALF THE PRICE!!
One year warranty for the Fukuda 881 is fine w/ me. My NextBase has been w/ me for about 2 yrs now and is still going strong. I'm assuming that I have to upgrade to another player that can read more formats in about 3-4yrs from now so investing on a Branded Player that costs twice than a generic one is a definite no no for me.

I'm starting to love mine each day!!
(napa bili tuloy ako ng DVD writer ng di oras to write my own DivX compilation)
and oh, almost forgot, I returned the Philips 5500S to Anson's Galleria the next day I got it. The manager was giving me such a hard time, hanggang ngayon di pa na re-reverse yung transaction namin last April 25, 2005. The manager there is a bit rude.
