When I was shopping around for my first pair of speakers, I auditioned alot of commercial speakers & even after I got what I wanted, I still continued to educate myself by auditioning some more. When it came time to shop for my 2nd audio speakers - i looked beyond the commercial offerings and hiked my budget to the likes of Proac, Rogers, Harbeth, Von Schweikert, etc. I must admit that the above brands really sounded different & in my subjective opinion, was better sounding than the ordinary commercial offerings we see around. But of course, they were also expensive.
Anthony's interpretation of a mid-end speaker at just the price of the cheapest commercial speaker is really something to celebrate about. Whether its 80-95% of the sound, we should consider ourselves lucky that these even came to fruition
Ang swerte talaga ng mga pumapasok palang ngayon sa HT or audio - sayang lang at walang ganito when I was starting out
Regarding Anthony's new FS speaker, I think it would be better to comment after the EB this coming Saturday........however, if the new FS has any indication of his clone speakers, then this certainly is a winner.
If this speaker was slapped with a branded logo and sold for more than 100-150k and after hearing it, we could probably reason out its pricing. But what if you learned that you could have it for just 10% of its selling price?
Honestly, those stores selling branded speakers have now a reason to be scared
