medyo mahirap kuhanan ng pic ang piano finish, these speakers has to be seen in person to be appreciated
I will call my pair "black beauty". These speakers provide very good imaging and a sweet midrange. highs are to my liking, using some rare vifa tweeters. Drivers are sony 4.5".
These are just basically modified versions of my personal speakers, the front baffle was modified so that the will be less vibration for the drivers, the whizzer cones on the sony drivers was removed. crossover was revised to accomodate the new tweeter. this is essentially a two-way design and has the same effect as stacking 4 pairs of booksehelf speakers of the same kind.
(like stacking 4 diamond 9.1's). Pro's as stated previously is better imaging. aside from the mids which fortunately improved, bass was also much better, no it doesn't go to the low 20's or provide chest thumping bass, but its tight and not boomy at all, no one note bass here.
i tried chesky's set-up disk and went straight to the bass resonance test, it did pretty well, notes were distinct, no muddiness here. These speaker's though are great for vocals, vienna tieng sounds superb. Tried some rock (metallica, evanescence) and the sound is decent...only because I am looking for that "kick" better experiment with placement as well....but I think I need a sub
considering that my source is a samsung dvd player used for karaoke purposes the speakers still showed the difference between a well recorded and poorly recorded album.Still i will get a very good digital front end and probably an analog one and it should only get better.
I am now keen on getting a
real subwoofer to handle the mid-30 below region aside from *gulp* room treatment to maximize these speakers. Are these the best speakers I have ever heard ? No, but those are speakers that I may not buy in my lifetime (too expensive).
