Here's a few Specs:

Dynamic Range: 100 wpc into 8 ohms
               200 wpc into 4 ohms
               400 wpc into 2 ohms

-You hear soft, quiet passages of music just as clearly as strong passages, even at various volume levels.

Frequency Response :20 hz -20 khz, +-0.00db .

-it reproduces completely all recorded low notes as well as high notes without any distortion in slow reverberations of bass when played together.

Tonal Balance : You hear low range, mid-range and high-range sounds equally well, without favoring any frequency range at the expense of another(accurate full frequency range)

Clarity : You can hear instruments separately as opposed to blended together. You can discern exactly what instrument is being played and also how it is being played.

Smoothness/Harshness: THD -0.001%
-You don't hear sound that was not originally recorded no hissing, no humming,no wavering vibrato or other distorion that wasnot there originally.

The Soundstage: 3-D Sorround sound stereo.
-This is the audio reproduction of the performance stage, You hear where the sound of various instruments is coming from whether on the left or right, front or back. It also recreates the recording environment, you can feel the ambience of the cathedral, the concert hall or the open air stadium wherever the piece was originally recorded.

what's that?  ???

good figures!

an amplifier is an audio compromise.
a speaker is a much worse audio compromise.
so what speaker is friendly to this DCX?
and what music genre can it really play with excellence

to make such figures and description meaningful

Pwede ba iyon??? Kung ikaw ang gumawa at naka patent wala dapat problema i discuss di ba?

For all I know iyung 3d effect ng amplifier niya eh sirketong nakopya lang sa internet.

There's a World Intellectual Property Organization on the net.  Tried searching the patent section for the name "carlos casas."  Surprisingly, there's one.  But the invention is entirely different.  And the name that came out was a certain Carlos Casas Gomila.  Not a pinoy.  Maybe someone can verify this.

Dynamic Range: 100 wpc into 8 ohms
               200 wpc into 4 ohms
               400 wpc into 2 ohms

an amplifier such as this must have rails of +/-50volts, the amps' psu must be able to sustain this rail even at 4 and 2 ohms!

this means that at 400watts per channel at 2 ohms, the power draw on the 220volt line must be around 1400watts!

if i were to design this amp with this spec, that amp would weigh in at no less than 20kgs.!

by looks of it he must be using an smps! ;D

its not a swithing power supply sir 2ny linear type lng cguro yun using small transformer para mas tipid..hehe

When we went there with sir rascal101 to audition the unit and ask some technical question.. nagulat talaga ko kc wala syang alam, wala syang masagot.. How much more designing a SMPS.. Ano kaya ung patented sa Design niya?

Anyway, naka2-awa pa rin sya.. I just hope that this post will reach first those who have interest in this amp to serve as a warning...

using his dai-ichi speaker, infairness maganda tumunog ung amp nya but for the price of P70k.. mura na raw sya compared to a krell or bryston amp..hehe

I think the voca amp is getting high praises at the nov 2006 audio show, is this the same out being mentioned in this thread?  ;D

better read  it again  ;)

But seriously, I guess I'm the only other person (aside from qguy) that had to stay in the DIY room during that time as I have to make sure all the other equipment be not touched while the VOCA amp is in session ;)

The verdict:  Well the amp is OK.... but If it goes beyond 5K am not buying it  ;)

I missed the VOCA at the show, some interview with the guys at the DIY room say that it's not crap, but it's not that great too.

What makes other members boil is the claim that it is the best.

Come to think of it, it is not really the amp that you  listen to, but rather the speakers, don't you think so? ;D

I heard the voca amp at the show...

things that I liked about this amp,

it had a bass boost   ;D switch at the back BUT its placed in between the speaker terminals  ???.. bass lovers would find this very usefull, compared to the loudness button on some amp which increases the highs and lows, this one just increases the lows.. its a welcome feature for me as  I love bass...

I like the small size of the amp.

I like the large heatsinks on both side of the amp

Surprisingly there is no bass, treble and Balance knobs...

nitpicking

will someone please remove those large red lighted power switch !!!

The Volume and input selector was different color and size, I would prefer matching vu and input selector knobs.

As mentioned the bass boost is at the back in between the loudspeaker terminals.

The casing was black, the screws were silver

The sound
its a decent sounding amp

BUT

its does not warrant a price of 70K, maybe 10K would be a fair price

qguy,

what it did is acutally boost the mid-bass, giving you a punchy sound... quite Ok for pop and the electronica.

Other comments:

Now other things why I will not buy it for 70K:

The looks (Honestly, the Raon made amps are better looking... he knows it... we pointed this out to him)

The terminals:  for 70K, at least you should be getting premium RCA plugs and 5-way gold plated binding posts, Ni hindi kumasya yung DIY Chris Ven Haus Cat5 cable doon sa slot  >:(

The design.... he said that he is not using filters in his amp (well, so do I ... I'm using a Direct Coupled 2a3 SET amp, and it doesn't sound like that  ???..... hmmmm baka pangit tumunog SET amp ko  :-[ )  (Di na siya nakafollow up ng sagot nung sinabi ko ito... )

By the way, he also has his own invention.... his own "turbosound" speakers, using his own patented speaker design..... but.... he told me how he designed it... and am not telling  :-X

Finally, he asked for my number and he'll give me a call if he needs to consult us on upgrading his VOCA amp  ;)   What the heck, I gave it to him  :)
