Topic: How many DVDs do you guys have?

to date, we now have 365 titles, around 350 region 1 DVDs and the remaining are All region DVDs.    

I feel guilty - have only completed putting together our home theater system, ironically, last 11th September 2001 (of all days!).  

365 titles since 9/11. That's almost a hundred a month.  G. W. Bush should thank you for heeding the call to spur the U. S. economy.  You are truly a pathetic, este, patriotic citizen.

mee almost 70+ but all of those were acquired at hkg where i worked for a couple of years. im here back in philippines for good and of course will pursue collecting dvd. im planning to order at amazon.com, my questions are :
1) do they deliver in Philippines
2) how long does it take
3) what us-peso conversion they are using
4) is it practical to order at amazon.com

Hi dicmat2001 and welcome to the club!

You can checkout the other threads particularly under Online shopping and you can find lots of info about ordering from various sources abroad. You can repost your query there.

But to answer you concisely, Amazon is quite excellent as far as customer servicing is concerned. The majority of my Region 1 acquisitions are from Amazon using the courier option for delivery (the most expensive). You can opt to use the postal services (pinakamatagal) but there is a chance that you will be taxed if not your disks pilfered (lost).

For payments, you use your international credit card (visa, mc) but the exchange range is dictated by the banks, not Amazon.

Surf into the other topics, there is already a large amount of info already accumulatedv regarding this and I am sure you will be properly guided.

30 all original titles. And not just titles, hard-to-find, all-time favorites, heavy rotation titles. No pirated --- it defeats the hobby, the awesome novelty of a hobby, the expensive hobby of collecting dvds. You can't say your hobby is collecting dvd when your dvds are cheap pirated. if that's the case, you're not a collector, but a mere viewer.

I have around 200 titles of Code 1 DVD's, around 300 titles of multi-code DVD's and around 800 titles of VCD's.  I started collecting VCD's in 1997 and I upgraded into DVD's last year.

Reasons : The cost of watching a movie in a theater here in Singapore is like buying a VCD (or a few more bucks to buy a DVD) and because of work, I don't have much time to go out.  I would prefer to watch at home that's why I have collected that much ... It's an expensive hobby but I think it's worth it ...

Hey sa wakas, meron na akong kasama dito.  I used to order my code1 dvd's in the internet (www.dvdexpress.com) pero lately eh meron na akong contact dito (yung mga kaibigan kong locals na pumupunta ng US) na nagbebenta ng mga Code1 na hindi available sa market.  Pwede mo akong kontakin sa 93628444 and we can get together sometime.

I have a feeling some members here are CEOs of some major companies.  300 to 400 DVDs a year, wow!!!
I started collecting about a year ago, I only have around 30 so far.  (if they only cost P500 baka doble na yan. Nyeeh! 60 is still nothing compared to what most of you guys have).

Most of my DVS are region 1 from dvdboxoffice and only 4 region3.

37 original DVDs as of the last count. These are mostly R1 and R2 titles, and only 1 R3 (which I got for free).

I prefer R1 titles for the added features. However, there are lots of interesting titles available only in the R2 format...

I started buying DVDs last April 2002.  To date, I have around 23 titles in my collection.  Parang dumadaan lang sa mga palad ko ang mga bonus at sweldo   ... pero enjoy naman e.

started collecting these  since 94' so, pappplagay ko, simple matikmatik on the average, 8yrs, 72.5 pcs. every yr, 6.04 pcs every month (tama ba to?) not so heavy in the pocket IMO. Naipon lang kasi. Yan ang Pinoy, marunong mag-ipon ng "gastos".

Haven't updated my DVDtracker database list, but I finally got around to counting what's on my (oops, I mean, our) shelf. Total is now 873 titles. Eek!

Am saving up for my TV and hopefully, receiver and speakers.  after that, back to DVD collecting.  I have a list of about 20 DVDs that I want to buy, though.

i think 10.  it's not so much on the number of titles you have but the reasons why you have them with you.  of course financing the acquisition of such dvds is a great factor for me.  in this way, i really weigh it out if the dvd title is worthy to be part of my collection. if later another dvd title surpasses this worthiness criterion, i sell my dvd
