Saw this title with a handsome 2-disc slip case packaging retailing at P650 at Astro. I would have gotten it except I noticed, it's in FULL Screen (For RP Viewing only). Definitely cheaper than the $20 tag at Amazon. Has anyone bought this and seen it? IS it the same as the R1? Thanks.

yes its star records release, sana warner na alng nag release nito para ok pa ang quality.

and it lists scene selections as one of its special features...

its only P600 sa video city..didnt notice na full screen and no indication na 2 disc..i just asked the sales dude..sabi 2 disc daw..ok na sana yung case kaso yung print sa likod local na local...di man lang naka print kung anong laman ng "special features"..why are local releases getting weirder and wackier?

si warner lang ata may magandang releases..

It's definitely 2-disc. I had a saleslady at Odyssey open one to check. But relented after seeing the 4:3 indication. The technical details at Amazon for both the full screen and widescreen R1 editions show an extensive array of special features:

This is the R1 packaging on Amaray from Amazon. But the local version I saw has a sleeker more creative packaging (with a cutout front flap on the cardboard slip case) that is more attractive.

Sayang naka full screen, many scenes will be left out and will not do justice for this Scorsese flick. But if you are budget conscious, grab this one.

I think the local release has two single-layer discs. The movie is split into two. These are locally-pressed discs and as you may know, we do not have a press here for dual-layer discs yet. This is the usual for Star releases.

It's also 450 at Odyssey beside Astro here at SM Sucat. Actually, agad na-bili yung sa Astro for 650 last Sunday. No more stock.

That should account for the 2-disc local version if it doesn't have the special features.

Saw that too at CD-Wow and it's for Region 3. I have to say this is perhaps the first time I saw a region 3 version that is superior to region 1 in all respects. So why would anyone order a region 1 when you can have a region 3 that has 3 discs, better packaging and a DTS track for only $29, $2 more than the region 1?

got the Aviator i ordered from cd-wow just a while ago.

the slip case have 3D art at the front and back

the 1st 2 discs contain the movie itself, in widescreen and DD5.1 & DTS, while the 3rd disc contains the special features.

and a free Limited Edition Paper Aircraft, unlike the paper aircraft of Sky Captain, this one is already pre-stamped/cut.

the running time of the movie is 170mins.

just got the 3-disc limited edition in hongkong a few days ago for HK$169. it did not have the paper aircraft though, and had 2 movie postcards instead.

bought it in widesight in haiphong road. hmv was selling it for around hk$20 more but i don't think any postcards or paper airplanes for that matter were included.

what is the cover of your AVIATOR LE? the silver lenticular one? there usually is a sticker outside the shrinkwrap stating that the cardboard airplane is inside.

i think HK released two versions of the 3-DISCS set.

Yup there are two versions of the 3 disc set in hong kong. The one i got had a hollographic image in front and back.
