I saw this at AVID Surfer at Powerplant last weekend. P24K just for the 5 satellites. I don't remember how much the sub was, but I think it was more than P10K.

If speaker size is not a problem, for around the same prize I think you can get good bookshelf/floorstanding speaker systems, such as mission cinema 72, b&w 303 speaker set, and wharfedale diamond 8.x series. You can check these out also and compare how the Quintet fares.  ;D

tnx for the response GAOL.  :)
i also saw these speakers at AVID but in Robinson's Galleria. i thought it's a good buy cos the salesperson said it costs 21k for the entire 5.1 speaker system. expensive for 34k+ just for the satellite speakers and subwoofer. where is the best store that can i audition these speakers (mission cinema 72, b&w 303 speaker set, and wharfedale diamond 8.x series). any idea how much would it cost for the entire 5.1 system (for each brand)? which is a better brand?

Hmm. I asked the salesman twice and clarified if the price did not include the sub. Baka iba ang pricing nila for the more "sosyal" crowd in Powerplant as against those who go to galleria?!! hehe  ;D

Seriously, it's possible either of the the salesmen made a mistake regarding inclusion of the sub, because I'm sure the P24K can be haggled down to P21K. If the sub is inclusive, then the speakers I mentioned would be way above the quintet's price range.

At any rate you can check them out at lots of stores such as:
mission cinema 72: DCM Audio Cubao, Upscale Audio Mega and Park Square, Sights and Sounds Shangri-La and Park Square, Image in Harrison Plaza
B&W 303: B&W Shangri-La, Listening in Style (Shangri-La), Listening Room Mega
wharfedale: Listening Room Mega

You can check the other existing speaker threads (e.g. there's one specifically for wharfedale) for details of these and other speakers.

Good luck!

GAOL,

i checked the mission speakers. im just wondering why does the center speaker have a low sensitivity compared to the front speakers.di ba the center speaker should have a high sensitivity and should be as sensitive as the fronts if not more sensitive. im not sure and you can correct me if im wrong.  ??? how does your sub perform? how much?

To be honest, I have no idea why the m7c1's (and the 77c1's as well) senisitivity is slightly lower. As to whether the center speaker should be more sensitive, I haven't heard about that and I'm not sure that is a factor at all, for as long as the receiver can handle it. Also, that's where the channel level adjustments come into play. The figures also are within typical figures of 87-91.

I did a quick browse on the net and there are other speaker ranges where the center speaker has lower senstivity -- check out the Tannoy Saturn range.

My sub gives me the grunt that I want with my home theater and for the price (P8K) I think it's a very good buy. Subs in the P20K and above range will definitely be better -- deeper, tighter, and better for music -- but this is enough for me, for now.

i have a klipsch quintet and a subwoofer for almost 2 years now.  All i can say is oks siya kasi iyong casing ng quintet is stone which gives you a deep tone.  kung mostly sa HT ang application mo, klipsch is great.  Ang pinaka-ok ay iyong subwoofer ng klipsch KSW-12 or higher.  try auditioning it and compare mo sa iba, and you will see why they made number one subwoofer line in the u.s. in 1998.

Good mix?

Well,

Klipsch Quintet, serve a different market. Yeah it is expensive as compared with Wharfdale...but can you really compare a Toyota against a BMW?

Design wise, it was made smaller to fit customer who prefer non-bulky equipment...plus having a special plastic compound to sound like any other floor standing, thats the price your paying for it.

Hi Everyone,

Just new here. I recently bought the Klipsch Quintet bundled with the KSW-10 sub at Avid Surfer Baguio for P15,000. Is this a good buy? They said these are display units but nevertheless gave a 1 yr warranty on them. Recently, I returned 2 of the sattelites to the Avid Surfer. One of them is not working and the other with a broken stand. I am new at setting up this stuff since I was used to having the out of the box multimedia speakers like the Altec Lansing 621. I matched them with a Konzert AV Receiver M: AV 300R (80 watts/channel 5.1 receiver) It's very basic and cheaper than the high end receivers. I was able to set-up the HT and fine tuned it but was thinking of getting a high end receiver later on when budget permits. did I do a good set-up on my system. I just read forums on Klipsch on how to set it up and had just recently joined this forum.  Any comments, suggestions would be very much appreciated. BTW, my Ht is in my room.

Ron

Ron,

Klipsch's are bright speakers. You might want to pair them w/ warm receivers like Harman Kardon's, Marantz's and NAD's.

Welcome to the forum ;)
