PLS HELP - Sony ES receiver malfunction
« on: Aug 03, 2005 at 06:48 PM »
My Sony ES receiver (STR-VA555ES) suddenly malfunctioned.  Every time I turn the power on, it goes into "Protect" mode right after the 3-second startup delay.  I disconnected all cables already, but still the problem persists.

Anyone here experienced the same/similar thing?  I need advice, coz it seems that even the local Sony service center don't repair ES models.

Any help would be much appreciated.

are you 100% sure that there are no short circuits of any kind on your speaker terminals?
BTW does Sony ES have a reset feature? try looking for it on your Sony ES manual. Most high end receivers or processors that are feature packed do have that reset procedure.

had similar experience but with a Technics AV receiver. i also removed the speaker/wires since user manual suggests checking for shorts on the speaker wires but still same result.

kung hindi ma-rerepair ng local Sony service center  pwede mo i-try DEECO Raon. doon ko dinala yung Technics AV receiver at naayos naman. na-busted daw yung front stereo chip amp.
