Well... they lost a lot of money on this film... so like Kingdom of Heaven, they are trying to recoup some of them...  Now it's less of a movie, but more miniseries like in length.  In Kingdom of Heaven, the EE was highly praised a s vastly superior to the theatrical cut, I really doubt that the same will be for Alexander...  I passed on this the first and second time around and will do the same this time, unless film critics makes a 180 and call this the greatest film since Gone with the Wind...

I might give it a try.  I've sold my 1st and second version of this.  additional 45 mins and $24.98 is not bad at all.  Plus 35% or more pa in amazon so it will be around $14 - $16 or even less.

Clocking in at 220 minutes, the film now will be structured into three acts: "Act I - Seeds of the Man", "Act II - Introspection" and "Act III - Revolution". The two-disc set is due on February 27th and will include an anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and a new on-camera introduction to the film from Oliver Stone. Retail is $24.98. Look for HD-DVD and Blu-ray editions later in the year
