Cheap Parts
« on: Aug 22, 2005 at 05:53 PM »
Saw one store selling the following parts: seems fresh pls. comment if the price are cheap:

47000uf/35V (Nichicon) ------------Php 400
22000uf/50V (Nichicon) ------------Php 350
15000uf/35V (Nichicon) ------------Php 300
10uf/700VAC (oil cap big can)-----Php 500

They seem industrial type Capacitors, screw type terminals
Several resistors ceramic type for Php20 ranging from 10 to 50W
a lot of big IEC std power cable for only Php 35

Still lot of switching type power supply, more power switches etch. Nice place for DIYer

Tony,

why not enlighten our fellow diyers on how to safely "reform" a cap.

regarding shelf life, I have thrown a lot of caps because of long storage.  :(

@odyopayl,

pm answered! the 10ufd/700ac oil cap, looks promising for tube amp duty, 700volts ac translates to 1400volts dc! or thereabouts.
If you will see them, they are in original color (sariwang-sariwa). I have my own collections of capacitors. Sayang baka tumaas pag lumaki ang demand.

There are lots of Servo motors & several switching power supplies. These are the motors from high-end TT's. Baka may gustong mag experiment all you need is a motor controller for accurate rpm.

Yup, I think they can be installed in your amp with only toggle expose. You can check it out or visit the place. It's a DIY'er haven! ;)

my setup for capacitor reforming, pictures as self explanatory!
use a supply voltage equal or greater than by 1.5 x printed wvdc on the caps.

hi,

I don't need any explanation, perhaps others do since these surplus caps can be very tempting to use in their gears..

regards

yeah sure, but the high cost of caps these days makes cap reforming very attractive, especially if they can be reformed. i posted the pics in case there are those interested to avail of this simple trick!

exactly, that's why I invoked you because I'm sure many would like to try. this way we can help others in reforming their surplus caps before using them in their gears.

one more question, is this the size of a fuseholder? the type with a square facia, about an inch square? i live far away and could not go there just yet!

thanks...

Hi 2ny. I'm not sure about the size, but you can install the switch with only two bolt on the front but you need to cut at least 1" x 0.5" for the toggle switch. There are lots of mini breakers in there, lots of capacitors, resistors to choose not to mention some switching power supply & power cables.

I see, I have no choice then but to get them overseas. I was scouting sinks for a Mark Levinson clone project.

Thanks.
