Welcome to the audio world, timber. Starting with the BabyG would be your most wise decision in starting with audio. Since BabyG is an integrated amplfier maybe (JojoD attention please) JojoD can make it with a "main-in" port so that in the future when you would want to try a separate preamp (like Lightspeed, Aikido, etc. - also from JojoD) then your BabyG will be "future proof" in such a way that you will be using your BabyG as a Poweramp.
Good luck in your audio journey.
OT: BTW I am a fan of your woodworks.

JoeyGS
That's exactly my option for brader Pip's plan, use the BabyG now as an integrated, then a tube preamp (a basic 2-tube or an Aikido if budget permits) in the future. I'll just reconfigure the BabyG to be a power amp by then.
PS: Are you back already? Next week tune up schedule is a go, this weekend I'll just finish up on an el cheapo sub xover/controller project aimed for sub diyer's needs.
Cheers
NaKup Dito ka rin pala mapupunta sa tubo.
Jo ano ba yan lightspeed na yan?
Technically, it's a passive preamp sir Rony, without any moving parts on the signal path...
Fr ano po ba yung lightspeed? ano ang difference sa aikido pre amp? bulacan po ba kayo?
after hearing a really good SS system sa Watts Hifi and comparing it to what i have, haaaayyyy lurker nako sa thread nato!
Brader, kamusta na? Hindi na natuloy yun pagkikita natin hehehe... Tamang-tama sa bulacan sila Fr Jim and brader Pip...
paktay na.... kinakabahan na ako
baka di na makaboto ang mama..... that would be long week to end.
Huwag po kayo matakot, hindi po pwede makuha, ginagamit ko pa hahaha!
Bumili pa naman ako nito para maganda ang kuha... tsk tsk tsk...
Yun po eh kung matutunan ko agad gamitin...
