Finally!....after 15 long years..my Technics TTable is alive once again with the help of Mr. Rene Rivo (Hyperaudio).  Rene fixed the Technics and sourced out the parts that were missing from my long forgoten TTable. he also wired the Technics with XLO/Monster cable interconnects.  Thank you Rene  ;D
Now I have a chance to listen to my dad's Hugo Montenegro LP after it has been kept for about 20 years.  O0

I have a Technics 1200MKII which I havent used in years. Any suggestions where I can have it repaired or calibrated? I tried all the necessary adjustments but the tonearm simply just skids.

I have a Technics 1200MKII which I havent used in years. Any suggestions where I can have it repaired or calibrated? I tried all the necessary adjustments but the tonearm simply just skids.

if it skids, likely you have the wrong anti-skating adjustment, too low tracking force, or you have a defective stylus. any of those three, your tonearm would slide inward destroying your stylus (if it's not chipped yet) damaging your precious records.

btw, for those going back to analog, it might be worthwhile to have a good magnifying glass, those used by watch repairmen, to have an idea of the stylus' condition. a stylus tip with too much dirt deposit would surely result in distortion or skating. you also need a small brush to clean the stylus tip. if you can still find cleaning gadgets by Discwasher or other brands, better.

having a magnifying glass, a small mirror and brush would allow you to check the condition of your stylus regularly, depending on how frequent you use your record player. it will also save you a lot of money since cleaning your stylus would result in dramatic improvement in sonic quality. thus, no need to buy a new cartridge or replacement stylus.

hindi naman sir. paisa-isa na lang siguro bili natin.  mahirap kitain ang pera sa panahon ngayon hehe anyway I still have a couple of hundred LP's here that will keep me busy for the next month or so  ;D

one downside to analog: hirap maghugas at maglinis ng plaka  :-\

kimpao, yes. bili mo na lang ng cartridge yan, at mas malaki pa improvement. on the budget side, may XLO na phono cable, 5K daw sabi ng audioworld.

DIY ginagamit ko ngayon for the meantime. I'm using a japan-made shielded cable.

Thanks sir arnold for the offer.  :D BTW,  is this ok as replacement for stock gr1 phono cables? or would there be a need for some soldering?

ano ba itsura nung phono cable ng GR-1? baka nakakabit sa tonearm yun? walang RCA yung GR-1 sa pwet? otherwise, kailangan yung buong table dyan. ang tonearm wire, mahal. kung balak mo din palitan.

none, i believe that the phono cables are somewhat directly connected to the tonearm.

ice, that's exactly my next suggestion. operahan na yung mesa at lagyan na lang ng RCA junction box. may alam akong pwedeng gumawa ng acrylic junction box... ang pangalan ay mike... matinik daw ito...  ;D
